1 pound chuck, cut in large cubes
1 tablespoon fat
Salt and pepper
2 quarts water
4 medium carrots, cut up
8 small onions
2 large stalks celery, cut in
2-inch pieces
1 No. 2 can sauerkraut
Sprinkle meat with salt and pepper, and brown in melted fat over high heat. Reduce heat to very low, add water, cover and cook 1½ hours. Add carrots, onions, celery and sauerkraut and cook another ½-¾ of an hour, or until vegetables are tender.
