Big episode of Biggest Loser last night. There were lots of highlights and not as much game playing as we have seen in the past couple of seasons. All the people this season look really excited to be there and there seems to be a lack of alliances that I saw so far.

First everyone was really excited to be on the show and they got to the ranch and without coaches tried their first workout (with Bob and Jillian watching on TV). Just after they started trying to workout Bob and Jillian gave it up and went into the gym, prompting excitement and the old guy to collapse and be taken to hospital.

Jerry the old guy

The old guy by the way is Jerry. Jerry is in his 60s and started at 369 pounds and in the first week he lost 25 pounds. I thought that was the most amazing story of the show last night.

There were a lot of big stories, from the 19 year old Daniel who started at over 450 pounds. Ron was another huge huge guy that had a gastric bypass surgery but easily reagined the weight later. And finally Tara, who had to push her friend Laura all the way to the weigh-in.

The weigh-in and kicking everyone out

The weigh-in was very confusing. One team had immunity from winning a running challenge and the highest percentage weight loss team was also immune but every other team had to send one member of their couple home and the remaining members would be back in four weeks if their partner was still at the ranch then.So we said goodbye to nine people last night and 5 or maybe more will come back in a few weeks, kind of makes the show disjointed but I guess it is fun for the producers to change up the show every season somehow.

Not sure why this is much of a couples team if you break the couples up right away.

Looks like we are in for another long season of 2 hour episodes. It is nice when Biggest Loser is on for two hours at the beginning of the season when you do not know the players yet, but I would like to see them cut back on the long long final weigh-in. Last night there were four commercial breaks just during the weigh-in. Glad I had the show taped on the PVR.

So, what did you think? Who was impressive to you? Do you like this new format? After just a few weeks off the show is back again.
