I wrote this article in anger a few months ago during season 4 of the Biggest Loser after Neil, one of the contestants gamed the Biggest Loser by cheating and drinking a couple of gallons of water right before the weight in. I am now again watching the Biggest Loser. But in reading this post you can see the anger that i had about the cheating and I certainly hope that the people that run the Biggest Loser do not let it happen again.

Well after three almost four seasons of watching the Biggest Loser as well as blogging about it I have now decided to boycott the show for good.
Anyone that saw tonight’s episode of the Biggest Loser was a horrible farce and hurt most of the contestants and I expect most of the viewers.
So, what happened tonight on the Biggest Loser, horrible gamesmanship. One of the teams conspired against everyone else but in the end one of the players, Neil, cheated by retaining water and gaining 17 pounds and instead of getting kicked out of the game he actually got what he wanted and that was for someone on one of the other teams kicked out.
There are of course no rules against trying to gain weight on the Biggest Loser but going this far is a terrible way to try to play the game.
NBC has always tried to plug the Biggest Loser as a motivational show where people come together and support each other to try to lose weight and change their lives but then they have allowed this to happen.
I know that there is no way to change this as the show is taped ahead of time so the next few weeks have already been taped but with falling ratings you have to think that NBC has conspired with the people on the show to create a ridiculous controversy that does nothing but piss of the viewers that still support the show.
for most people it is hard to lose weight and losing 1 or 2 pounds is all that most people really expect. For this show to inspire people with 10 pound weight losses and then to allow one person to game the show with a 17 pound weight gain is absolutely terrible in my eyes
Boycott the Biggest Loser by not watching it anymore.
I pour a lot of thought into this blog. Can you spare a couple of bucks as a gift to me and as thanks for putting up this content for you to read and learn from? Thanks!|

Hey Bill,
I was completely in tears last night. I was mad at Neil and what his team decided to do to through the weigh in, but at the same time I was sad because Jez did not deserve to go home yet! I just was not fair at all. I do hope after this that The Biggest Loser show change some of there guidelines in the future, so that this does not happened again. We will see next week what each person fate is on the show. I know with the previews the trainers and contestants was not happy at all. Until then.
BTW, you blog is great!! I will definitely have to add you to my blog roll if you don’t mind. you have great content that my other reader would enjoy so much. Let me know.
have a great day!!
I agree! The show is not living up to it’s name and a person that gains 17 pounds (water weight or not) in theory can win the show. THAT is neither healthy physically for an individual nor healthy sportsmanship nor the biggest loser. I don’t care about what is going to happen next week…the show is now off my future recordings on my PVR.
I think the only way this will ever be FAIR is if they don’t tell anyone til weigh in next time, that Neil has to lose all of the 17 pounds before it counts towards weight loss for his team. If they don’t I’m done with this show.
Hi,
In some of the episodes after this, people lose their immunity if they gain weight. In my opinion that seems like a step the producers are taking to stop things like ridiculous 17 lb weight gains, which I agree was terrible.
I do find it disheartening to watch players be disappointed with 5 lb weight losses when in real life it’s so hard to even just lose one or two pounds. If you like biggest loser but are boycotting it then I would recommend watching Taking It Off, though it’s not quite as entertaining without the competitiveness.
i just love the tv show the biggest loser how can any one hate that show.
What you seem to be forgetting is that this is not simply about weight loss. It’s about some lucky SOB winning trips all over the world, home gyms, make-overs, meeting celebrities, and ultimately a quarter of a million dollars.
Yeah… I’d drink a few gallons of water for that.
