Braised Swiss steak recipe

1 serving—337 calories

1 pound lean round steak
(¾ inch thick)
Salt and pepper
1 tablespoon fat
1 No. 2 can sauerkraut, with juice
1 cup tomato juice
1 medium onion, sliced
1 teaspoon celery seed

Salt and pepper steak and sear it in melted fat over high heat. Reduce heat very low and add other ingredients. Cover and cook 1½ hours, or until steak is tender.

Serves 4.
