How many crunches to get 6 pack abs? I have often wondered exactly this and decided to look around for a good answer.
It seems that crunches are not enough as they hit only a part of the abs. Of course diet is one of the big parts of getting six pack abs, if you have fat on your stomach then you can’t very well see your six pack right?
So as far as exercises go, I found a bit of a great resource. The guy that created Burn the fat feed the muscle, Tom Venuto has a few ab exercises, that when done together, will give you a much better set of abs.
I know that you may be wondering why you would care in the beginning of fall about getting 6 pack abs? Of course it is never too early to get ready for next summer but more importantly it is critical always to have a strong core, I know here in calgary more people hurt themselves becasue of a weak core and losing balance walking on the ice, but more importantly anytime you reach over, or pick something up you are using those core muscles, heck even walking requires your core muscles when you are just keeping your body upright.
Check out Tom’s exercises and get started. Now you will know just how many crunches to get 6 pack abs.
Looking to make a change and lose some weight? I have reviewed the top diet on the internet and you can go and read over 200 comments people have made about why this diet has worked well for them, as well as some of the problems.

More than nearly any other subject I get questions on is the subject of how to get abs. There is a lot to be said for abdominal muscles and I think that although a great set of abs may be great to parade along a beach there are many more important reasons to get abs.
In thinking about how to get abs I want to be clear that the central part of your body which includes your abs and your lower back as well as your sides is a very important part of your body. Just think how you would not be able to reach over or to the side or even to keep your body upright if you did not have a strong set of abdominal muscles. So more than just vanity a strong set of abs is very important to our health.
How to get abs – Are your abs hiding?
For many people there is a lot of exercise going on in the abdominal region and this may consist of situps, crunches and leg raises, but if you are hiding your abs then what is the point? The first thing you need to do is pinch your far on the front and side of your stomach and see how much fat is sitting there. Are you a little too fat? There is no such thing as spot reducing your abs so it is best to try and lose whatever fat you have been getting a good diet going. Read the rest of this entry »

The ab roller and the ab crunch machine are two of the most common ab machines available. These machines have pros and cons, and you should be sure to learn all you can about them before investing.
The ab roller really is a basic piece of equipment. It looks like a dumbbell, but it is round and pretty light. When you use the ab roller, you put both hands on the roller while you are on the floor on your knees. Then you roll outward as far as you can without letting your body touch the ground. Once you are out as far as you can go, then you bring yourself back in and repeat the exercise. The key is not to extend farther than you can roll yourself back in.
The benefit of the ab roller is that it is handy. The equipment is light and easy to take with you so that if you travel, you can use the ab roller while you are out without much problem. The ab roller also is easy to learn to use, meaning you are probably more likely to use it than something difficult. The downside of the ab roller is that you cannot ad much resistance to it, meaning that you can tap out its potential pretty early in your workout career. Read the rest of this entry »

The upper abs are often the strongest area of the abs on people who do not work out or who do basic workouts. Still most people look to get their upper abs into better shape. These three exercises, the butterfly, the curl, and the bench sit ups, all work the upper portion of the abs for a great workout.
The butterfly may look a little silly, but it works for a good start to an upper ab workout. Sit on the floor as you would for a basic crunch: knees bent, feet shoulder-width apart, back on the ground. Let your knees drop out to the side and your heels come together. Your legs will form what looks like the wings of a butterfly, giving this exercise its name. Keeping your legs bent, come up into a crunch, hold, and return to the starting position. This exercise keeps you from relying on your leg muscles the way you can do in a traditional crunch and works out the upper abs. Read the rest of this entry »

Getting ripped abs probably is part of every man’s dream life at some point. Many men may believe they can have ripped abs but find themselves unsure about the quickest way to get ripped abs. Rest assured that while there is no plan to get ripped abs by tomorrow night’s date, it can be done in a little more than a month with committed, daily exercises.
Getting that coveted six-pack means doing two things when it comes to your abdominal muscles. The first is losing fat quickly. Even people who work out have some fat on their bodies, and for many people, the abdominal muscles are one place fat tends to take up residence.
Because the abs do not get a lot of work unless you specifically work on them, they typically will have some fat you can get rid of. If you have any muscle tone at all, then you should try running or biking daily for four to six weeks to lose any fat around your middle. Then the muscle structure underneath your abs will be more apparent. Read the rest of this entry »

Although it may seem counterintuitive, people experiencing back pain should do exercises with their doctor’s permission. Some types of back pain, especially pain associated with sitting for long stretches, comes from not working out the back muscles enough. As long as there are no injuries, doing basic abdominal exercises is fine.
Yoga is a form of exercise that improves flexibility and balance through stretching and maintaining poses. Yoga also requires some strength, which is where it can help people with back pain. The poses that serve as an abdominal workout for yoga are poses that require the back to arch outward. These poses can be done standing or lying flat. You simply arch your back outward so that your hands are reaching toward the back of your legs. Holding this pose for up to a minute will strengthen the back muscles and also help the abs.
Other exercises that help with abdominal muscles and back pain are leg lifts. This exercise, often used in traditional aerobics classes, has no impact but allows you to work your back. Begin by lying on the floor on your side. Put your arm out straight down the length of your torso toward your feet. Lift the top foot until your legs form as close to a 30-degree angle as you can get. Try to hold your leg in this position for a few seconds and then lower. Do several sets of these leg lifts before switching sides. The leg lift should stretch the muscles of the back, helping to relieve pain, while also working on the oblique muscles. Most exercise gurus will tell you that crunches just aren’t enough to flatten your abs. Though that’s what most of us think about when we plan to begin working out, it’s just not the only thing we need to be doing. Instead you should try to work with diet and other exercises to learn how to flatten your abs in less time.
For starters, your body needs to stay hydrated. When you don’t get enough water, it leads to all kinds of problems with your body, and one of the problems is that you will retain water on the days when you do get enough. Much of this retention will happen in your mid-section, making your abs look even bigger.
Once you have enough water, you can flatten your abs by reducing your calorie intake. By eating less, you can cut the fat that settles in your midsection, which will help you to lose the layer of fat that may be over your abs. Losing this fat is a matter of watching your diet closely, making sure you eat a good balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and fat. Too many of any group can wreak havoc on your plans to flatten your abs, so monitor your diet closely. Read the rest of this entry »

In short, both dieting and exercise are extremely important when you are trying to get better abs. The body needs fewer calories eaten and more calories burned for you to see the maximum progress from your workout and diet efforts. The problem many people have when it comes to their abs is that any muscle they have built up is hidden under layers of fat. Though it may be only a few pounds of fat, burning that fat from the tummy will help the abs look better quickly.
The body works in a linear fashion. When we intake food, our bodies process the carbohydrates first, then the protein, and finally the fat. The body uses these foods when it can, and what is not needed to function is stored for later use. Due to the fact that few people burn off everything they eat, some calories get stored in the body, and those calories are most likely to be fats. When you work out, your body works in the same way, burning off carbohydrates, then proteins, and finally fats. Read the rest of this entry »
