Trying to get six pack abs comes down to two things, losing the fat in the abdomen and strengthening those muscles in the stomach as well. We all know the exercises that we need to do the lower ab exercises as well as the upper ab exercises and of course the obliques and intercostals but really the eating is the core of getting 6 pack abs.
First of all lets be clear, there is no such thing as spot reduction. It seems over the last few years there have been even more creams and pills that have promised to melt away the fat in the abs but really these miracle 6 pack ab solutions are not miracles at all and will not get you any closer to the six pack that you desire. Instead you need to lower the amount of bodyfat on your whole body.
OK, so how are you going to lower your bodyfat? Are you going to low carb like Atkins? Are you going to rely on getting all the fat out of your diet? These are two options that may work but in the long term you will probably want this six pack next summer as well as this summer so you need to choose a diet that you can stick to always. I believe that the best six pack diet is the one that you can always follow. Read the rest of this entry »

The term “volumetrics diet” is catching up these days suddenly with the attention gained from the media. So one would naturally as to what exactly it is and from where this term gained acceptance in the popular culture. The phrase “volumetrics diet” was first used in the book released by Barbara Rolls in the year 2000, the title of which was “The Volumetrics Weight-Control Plan” and it was co authored by Barbara and Robert Barnett. Both these writers have impressive credentials with Barbara holding a Phd from Penn State University and Barnett having a track record of writing in several nutrition publications.
The volumetrics diet is based on a simple fact that the volume of food eaten is more important to us when it comes to experiencing a sense of fullness as compared to the number of calories consumed. Although this fact is commonly known, most of the “diet plans” work in exactly the opposite direction by proposing a curb on food volume and forcing the body to go into starvation.
As many would agree this approach is short lived since it is not possible for anybody to go on living on less food for extended durations. This is where the volumetrics diet differs. It proposes that by consuming foods, which are low in calorie content, you will not just lose weight but additionally such an approach would ensure that you can do so for extended periods of time, possibly months if not years. Further, you’ll not feel any urge of hunger since you’re not eating less food than demanded by your appetite. Read the rest of this entry »

As we all know the popularity of the South Beach diet seems to keep enduring as it is a normal type of diet. The South Beach diet is quite balanced and teaches people to eat better that they do now with foods that they would usually eat and eat at home with food from a grocery store.
Here is an interview with Dr. Arthur Agatston, cardiologist and South Beach Diet developer, as he talks about diet and exercise:
In your newest book, “The South Beach Diet Supercharged,” you write that “the diet debates are over.” What do you mean?
The consensus is that we’re beyond low-fat versus low-carb debates … The answer is healthy carbs — nutrient-dense, high-fiber, vegetables, whole fruits, whole grains; the good fats — omega-3 fish oils, olive oil … These principles are, I would say, set in stone.
Exercise is important
You also include exercise in “Supercharged” because you say there’s new evidence about the best way to exercise. What is that? Read the rest of this entry »

As I have mentioned a few times before and offered bonuses upon, there are three diet, weight loss, or health improving plans that I have reviewed. The plans are really very different from each other and I often get questions about which is the best based on a persons attitude and often which is the best of the three for me. These plans are:
Burn The Fat, Feed the Muscle
fat loss for Idiots
Turbulence Training
I have a lot of questions coming at me about which of these is the best and I wanted to make sure that I answered these questions before I move on to writing about any other plans and programs in the future.
Any weight loss program to me has two components, exercise and diet. Here is where the above diets sit in those categories. Read the rest of this entry »

I have not posted about this before, but about a year or maybe a little longer ago i wrote a little review on the fat loss for Idiots diet.
When I first read about the diet I was initially skeptical because that whole “Lose 9 Pounds in 11 Days” bit sounds more than a bit stupid but I have certainly been proven wrong as many people seem to have lost that in the first week and then continued to lose for a few weeks after at least. Eventually of course most people need to really ramp up the exercise to lose tons of weight but initially at least there are some great losses to read about.
I ended up writing a positive review about Fat Loss for Idiots and since I have commenting on this blog turned on it seems that people have really taken to discussing how the diet is going for them and what they like and don’t like about Fat Loss for Idiots.
So far over 200 comments have been posted about the diet and I have been blown away by the amount that people are sharing and how supportive everyone has been to each other, it is really fantastic to see.

Anyone that has been on a diet knows that one day there is no easy way to get past the first day of the diet. On the first day of a diet everything is fine and exciting. On the second day of a diet there is no way that all of those great thoughts of the first day will still be carrying you forward.
Here are some cant miss diet tips to help you after the first day of the diet.
Have a great bunch of reasons
Everyone has goals when they start a diet but these goals are usually far out. You know a picture in your mind of you and a bikini in Hawaii or something like that. Well if you have reasons then it will make things a lot easier. How about thinking about how much better your health is today when you are reaching for a cookie. Another great thing is to make a day of how great your day is today. Look back at the day from the beginning and only notice your successes. Keep your head in the sand about the bad things unless you have to and make sure that you dwell on great things so that you can do more of them all of the time. Read the rest of this entry »

You have probably heard of the 5 factor diet. Perhaps you also know about Harley Pasternak, its inventor. But do you know about the story that led to its invention? Why is it called the “5 factor” diet? Well, there is an interesting story that says it all. In this article I will not only tell you the story behind its creation but also how it could help you with weight loss.
Once upon a time, Harley was called upon to create a fitness plan for movie actors. The stipulations for the fitness plan were:
The workouts have to be so effective that they would offer the desired results in a very short time, and that too, on the movie sets. The only spare time for an actor is the short breaks he gets in between shootings. Anyone who has been an actor would agree that such breaks are very short, usually no more than 15-30 minutes on an average.
The meals have to be such that they can be prepared using simple ingredients. The meals should be small in size so that they could be eaten within minutes. At the same time, each of these meals should be highly nutritious.
Harley ended up creating an effective weight loss program for movie actors, and since actors used to be busy folks (they still are), they would eat five times per day. This is how the diet program came to be known as the “5 factor” diet.
So what is this 5 factor diet all about?
Eat 5 times per day: People gain weight because they eat too many unnecessary foods in the name of “snacking”; and they snack because they feel hungry. The 5 factor diet uproots the entire problem in one go. Instead of eating just two or three huge meals, the 5 factor diet requires you to eat five small meals per day. Thus, you won’t hungry and as a result, there would be no question of your snacking and gaining unnecessary weight.
Each meal is made up of only 5 ingredients: You would need to cook each of these meals using only 5 ingredients. It takes as little as five minutes to cook each of these small meals.
It runs for 5 weeks: Your dieting period would last only for five weeks. But I am sure that once you start following it you would get so much addicted to the delicious, quick meals that you would keep “dieting” forever. Don’t worry, you get to cheat too. Read below.
You get 5 cheating days: With this diet program, you get a total of five days to cheat, that is, one “cheat day” per week. Most diet plans fail to work because they restrict you only to a few boring foods. By allowing you to eat your favorite foods once every week, the diet program ensures that you don’t stray from it “midway”.
To understand how “cheat days” work, imagine that out of 7 days, you remain imprisoned in a cell for 6 days. Every 7th day, you are allowed to come out of the prison and roam freely. Cheat days are allotted to you so that you could enjoy your favorite foods on those days. However, cheating shouldn’t be done beyond a limit or it would boomerang on you.
You do 5 workouts: Imagine working out for hours, or doing the same old workout forever. Boredom and frustration are inevitable with such a workout regimen. Thankfully, the 5 factor diet recommends five different workouts for you.
While you need to do all the five workouts daily, the good news is that since each of these workouts lasts only for five minutes, you won’t have to spend beyond 25 minutes per day on exercises. Moreover, such a workout regimen would keep you from getting bored and fatigued.

Joining a diet program is not enough to rid you of the burden of extra fat. In order to lose weight, you must plan your meals in such a way that your body receives the maximum amount of nutrition with the least amount of calories. In this article I will offer you four tips to help you Calorie Shifting Meal Planning.
Overeating is not allowed: The calorie shifting diet doesn’t restrict your food intake to the bare minimum, but that doesn’t mean that you would keep eating and eating without a pause. While you are allowed to eat as much as is needed to satiate your hunger, you must NOT eat beyond that.
Often people continue eating even when they are not hungry; they do so because even though their hunger has been satiated, their taste buds haven’t. Remember that overeating would make you overweight. So make sure you don’t eat beyond what is enough for you.
Group and plan your meals carefully: Meal planning for the calorie shifting diet is not as easy as with other diet programs. With the calorie shifting diet, you would need to eat four meals per day. Each of these meals should contain foods from different food groups. For example, each of your meals must have foods that are rich in protein (e.g., lean chicken meat), vitamin, minerals, fats (e.g., dairy, fishes), and carbohydrates (e.g., natural fruits and vegetables). Besides, you should plan your meals in a way that each meal consists of both low-calorie and high-calorie foods.
This food grouping pattern would have to be modified from meal to meal. For example, if in the first meal you had dairy foods for fat, you should have red meat in the next, oily fishes in the third, pasta in the fourth, and so on.
Oh, don’t be surprised at the mention of “pasta” or “dairy foods”. Under the calorie shifting diet, virtually all kinds of foods are allowed, as long as you plan your meals properly and don’t go beyond the daily calorie intake limit.
Space out your meals: Don’t jumble one meal upon another; if you do so then your body would be showered with too many calories at once and it would then deposit the extra calories as fat. You should space out your meals in such a way that there is a gap of at least 2-3 hours between each meal. Besides keeping your weight under control, this would also help in proper digestion of the foods.
Allow yourself to cheat: Your diet lasts only for eleven days, after which you are allowed to cheat for the next three days. On those three days you can eat your favorite foods. Again, DO NOT overeat or you would become overweight.
You can see here that calorie shifting meal planning is very important but not hard once you think ahead.

In case you haven’t heard of Inches a Weigh, it is a newly established weight loss center. On its website www.inchesaweigh.com, it claims to be very much different from the way conventional fitness centers work, in that it offers customized fitness and diet plans to its members. Inches a Weigh also claims to help their clients change lifestyle patterns. Now you maybe asking, is Inches a Weigh really a legit program or just one of the many existing shams. In this article I will tell you just that.
As we all know, diet and exercises are equally essential for fast weight loss. Inches a Weigh is generally made for women who are struggling to lose weight and are in desperate need of professional guidance. The structure of the weight loss program is divided into three phases.
Inches a weight phases
In the first phase, called “Nutritional Phase”, you are offered tips on food and nutrition. The second one is the “Body Sculpting Phase”, in which you would tone up your body. The third phase is called the “Cardiovascular Fitness Phase”, in which you would be doing cardios using elliptical, trainers, treadmills, and exercising bikes.
The program claims that on completion of all the above three phases, a woman would not only get rid of the extra pounds but also be able to maintain the slim and fit body throughout the rest of her life.
Pricing: If you have any experience with weight loss centers that offer customized plans to their clients, you would know that they generally charge big bucks. Inches a Weigh refuses to reveals its membership fees, which is a huge issue for me. From my experience, companies which aren’t transparent about their prices should be avoided at all costs. But wait, there is a lot more I discovered about this company.
Program structure: The second thing that seems problematic to me is the very structure of the program itself. It is true that diet and exercises are important to get rid of fat, but why should they be done in separate “phases” instead of going hand-in-hand?
As a matter of fact, dieting shouldn’t be separated from exercises; rather, both should go together, because dieting is incomplete without exercise and vice-versa. Moreover, the program seems to stress only on cardios and exclude intense workouts such as strength training and weight training. Unlike cardios, intense workouts help you burn a lot of fat within very little time. Also, unlike cardios, they not only burn fat during the workout session but also when you are resting.
No Diet pills or Supplements
Another thing that surprises me is that the program makes no mention of diet pills or weight loss supplements. I am not a big fan of diet pills because they are more harmful than helpful, but there is no reason to exclude premium weight loss supplements such as Advantra Z or Authentic Hoodia Gordonii. Weight loss supplements help you lose weight faster than you would without them.
To conclude, if you wish to join this program, you should get more information about it, especially its price. Like I said, such programs are usually very expensive. You should also enquire about how “different” it is from the other weight loss centers, because in my eyes it seems like just another weight loss center whose makers are ignorant of the basics of weight loss. I also feel that its clients could seriously benefit from the inclusion of weight loss supplements.

Fox news has an article today about a guy that lost 140 pounds using a self created “Baked Bean Diet”
A diet of baked beans helped Neil King to lose 140 pounds in nine months. In fact, since June 2007, he’s eaten more than half a ton of them, about 1,500 cans.
Prior to dieting, King ate a full English breakfast, which at its heart consists of bacon and eggs and may include sausage, toast, and stewed tomatoes, for lunch, and drank eight pints of lager in the pub after tea.
King, from Halstead in Essex, England, made the switch from boozing to beans after being told he was at risk for bowel cancer.
And his high fiber diet has been gas-free since he stopped having toast with his beans, it is reported. The diet helped King go from 420 pounds to 280 pounds.
Speaking to Britain’s Mirror, King said, “Some people think I’m mad but I love the taste and the weight has been dropping off.”
King apparently eats six cans of beans each day, and has them with rice for lunch and with potato for his afternoon tea.
His wife Cheryl told the Mirror, “He’s like a new man.”
Baked beans contain little fat and are full of fiber, although it is best to go for a low-salt variety.
I like baked beans and ate almost one can one night for dinner last week but come on, how many baked means can you eat? How about the processing that goes into canning these things?
I am always a bit nervous when I read the headline and then see that someone is overeating one thing, what about the rest of his diet overall?
