I work with some people that are on the Abs Diet. The Abs Diet is a diet that is based very closely with the Body For Life diet/fitness/movement that not only has you eating a fairly strict diet that is balanced for six days a week but also working out every morining. I love the Abs Diet idea as all it does is take the most important things to getting and staying healthy and putting them all together.
I ran into an article about eating and the Abs Diet on the Men’s Health site titled Power 12 Foods: Never Go Hungry
and thought I would pass it on. If you have any interest in Body for Life or the Abs Diet I wholeheartedly endorse these as a great way to take care of yourself.
Looking to make a change and lose some weight? I have reviewed the top diet on the internet and you can go and read over 200 comments people have made about why this diet has worked well for them, as well as some of the problems. Tags: Body, the Men's Health

OK last time for this same old story but the more times and places that you can hear about he basics of healthy eating the better. Here is an article, from of all places, spineuniverse.com.
Fiber and Carbohydrates
Some weight management plans advocate eliminating or seriously limiting carbohydrate consumption. However, this may not be ideal because healthy sources of carbohydrates contain fiber the body needs.
It is recommended that adults consume 25 grams of fiber per day. Adequate dietary fiber is ideal for preventing obesity as well as other diet-related disease and for maintaining body weight (7). An estimated amount consumed by most Americans is 15 grams per day (8).
The best sources of carbohydrate that help to fulfill fiber requirements come from whole grains, fruits and vegetables; fresh unprocessed foods. The closer the food is to its natural state the better. For example, the fiber in oatmeal draws water into the intestines and helps maintain regularity, which decreases the time potential carcinogens spend in the digestive track. Fresh fruits and vegetables are loaded with antioxidants and vitamins that help to neutralize free-radicals. To increase daily fiber intake, consider these suggestions:
· Eat whole grain breads, cereals, pastas, couscous
· Eat raw fruits and vegetables
· Mix bran into cereals, casseroles, muffins, even salad
· Incorporate beans (e.g. garbanzo, kidney) into soup and salad

Now I know how I dropped a bunch of weight in the spring.
fat loss" >Fish Oil and Exercise = fat loss
This is an interesting article on the power of fish oil. Fish oil is taken by people to increase their intake of Omega 3 vitamins and I have been taking Omega vitamins for about three years now. Most people take Omegas to help their heart as some studies have suggested that it will do exactly that.

Just a week or two after I posted about how miracle diet pills are usually dangerous another pill re-enters the market.
The Fastest Weight Loss Possible
These pills are packed with speed so they will obviously work, will have you hopped up worse than coffee, affect your heart rythym if you are so inclined, lead to death in some situations, cause you to fail company drug tests and yes maybe lose you weight. This reminds me of the ECA stacks of amphetamines with caffiene that were popular a couple of years ago that used aspirin or willow bark (the same thing really) to stop the shakes that the other ingredients have.
Maybe you noticed I am against this pill too.

The people that make Centrum Vitamins have created a nutrition calculator that will tell you how good your diet is based on what you eat on the average day. The nutrition calculator also asks you for your sex and age
centrum.ca – Tools -
Remember when you use this nutrition calculator that the people that have brought it to you do sell vitamins. This is a great idea though and I will bring you more of these as I find them

The second-most fatal cancer for men after lung cancer, prostrate cancer may well be tamed by the humblest of juices, suggests a new study published in this week’s issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that tested the efficacy of the red pomegranate juice on mice. The gaining in popularity health drink was found to deter prostate cancer cells successfully in lab dishes and mice, suggesting a potential cure for the cancer.
The pomegranate juice that is known for its rich source of antioxidants, that give it the deep color and act upon chemicals that damage cells and tissues to cause cancer, were found to shrink human prostrate tumors in mice. Dr. Hasan Mukhtar of the University of Wisconsin Medical School who led the study said, “Our study, while early, adds to growing evidence that pomegranates contain very powerful agents against cancer, particularly prostate cancer. He suggested that the results of the study provided a good reason, to test this fruit in humans, both for cancer prevention and for treatment”.

Many of us eat energy bars, protein bars or the like, I found this short article at eVitamins and though I would throw it in
Energy bars are fortified foods containing a blend of protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. The primary source of protein in energy bars is usually soy or milk, with fiber provided from grains, oats, apple pectin, or other sources. Some bars also contain additional herbs or nutrients thought to enhance energy, promote weight loss, or increase endurance. Energy bars can be consumed before, during, and after athletic events to ensure sufficient energy and replace expended nutrients. They may also be used as a snack or meal replacement.
Varieties
Energy bars come in a wide variety of flavors and textures. They may be high in protein, high in carbohydrates, low in fat, or contain a balanced ratio of these nutrients. They may have a taffy-like texture, or may be baked for a cookie-like consistency. Many are coated with chocolate, carob, vanilla yogurt, or other flavors. Natural energy bars with natural sugars, flavors, and colors are also available.
Buying and storing tips
Look for energy bars in the snack foods or supplement section of health food stores, or in the specialty foods section of most supermarkets. Store energy bars in a cool, dark location for 6 to 12 months.
Availability
Energy bars are available year-round.
Preparation, uses, and tips
Combine natural energy bars and a handful of grapes or cherries for a fast breakfast or healthful mid-day snack. Energy bars are easy to transport, so if youre going for a long bike ride or hike, pack some energy bars to satisfy your snack attacks.

I found this on the MSN site. A link from a Weight Watcher.com article
Skimming Off the Top
Here’s 7 simple get-that-excess-weight-off ideas:
- A spoonful of sugar can add up over the course of a year. Add one less teaspoon sugar (15 calories) to your cup of morning and afternoon coffee each day and you’ll save about 10,000 calories — the equivalent of about 3 pounds per year.
- Slim down that bowl of cereal: Switch from 1 cup regular whole milk to 1% milk (about 50 calories less per cup) every day. Once your taste buds adjust, you’ll be thrilled! That’s a tad more than 5 pounds lost by this same time next year.
- Take the scenic route. Park your car as far as possible from the entrance to your office, the shopping mall or a restaurant and get those legs pumping. Ten minutes of daily moderate paced walking (five minutes each way burns about 20 calories) can take off four-plus pounds a year*.
- Get your vitamin C boost with a whole orange (60 calories) instead of a cup of juice (110 calories) each day. Ka-ching, ka-ching! Your 12-month savings: 5 1/4 pounds.
- Go calorie-free by switching from regular to diet pop (150 versus 0 calories per can). If you drink one can per day, that’s nearly 16 pounds lost in a year.
- Flavour-up your sandwiches with very low-cal condiments like mustard or vinegar instead of calorie-packed butter. Leave off 1 tablespoon (100 calories) every day and you’re looking at close to 10 1/2 pounds a year.
- Down-size, don’t super-size, fast food meals. Opt for a small McDonald’s French fries (210 calories) instead of a large order (450 calories) at your weekly fast-food meal. You’ll enjoy the same great taste all year long but with an added bonus: 3 1/2 pounds lost.
