fat loss for idiots

This post is a bit of a rant. I love everyone that emails me and reads this blog but sometimes I am too easy on the changes that people need to make. So I will rant a bit today for you.

I know the title may be a little tongue in cheek but I worry that so many people are waiting for another day to start what they need to start today.

There is a great quote that I always have loved

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift

The reason that this means so much is that people dream about tomorrow and they dwell on the past and forget that today is the only day that you really have control of.

But just looking at this short term means that people fail to act.

You need to look at today as the only day that matters and it matters for tomorrow as much as today does. My wife right now is reading the great book “Tuesdays with Morrie“, a book that Mitch Albom writes about spending days focussed on the day meeting with his friend Morrie, learning himslef that living for this very day only matters.

Well I had to tell my wife that even though I understand and really understand why this is important you still can not live in a vacuum of today. You have to remember that you will likely wake up tomorrow and want a better day than today.

People are always emailing me asking how they can get in shape quickly and why they fail. Well people fail because they fail to act!

If you are fat and sad about it then don’t just dwell. Get a diet, get some exercise…..ACT NOW don’t wait until tomorrow.

Living for today still needs to mean that today you will act and make changes for tomorrow and the day after that. Instead of planning and deciding that you are going to give yourself a week to find a diet, a couple weeks to find a trainer, a month to get some workout equipment, STOP that now and just go for a walk and think about what you will eat today and tomorrow.

I better stop now before you get bored of reading this and let you go and get that change done. Get off the couch and walk around the block. If you are at work, get up now and walk a few blocks, really no one will miss you for just 15 minutes.

So all that I really wanted to say is live life for today but make sure that it is leveraging your life to give you a better tomorrow.
