Most people do not drink enough water, and many mistake thirst for hunger and end up consuming extra calories. That concept was not disputed in the above mentioned literature review. People live life on the run, and don't stay hydrated or eat a balanced diet. I love vitaminwater because it hydrates and helps enhance my diet with added B vitamins and vitamin C. At only 50 calories per serving, I can stay hydrated and save on calories that I otherwise would have eaten. So maybe water intake over and above our needs won't bring onb a miracle, but getting enough to meet our daily needs is a good start.

I saw the same story reported in our local free rag. I don't think reporting such things does anything to guide people toward a healthy lifestyle. Chances are that if you DON'T drink water, instead you are drinking softdrink, too many coffees, or too much juice. I definitely feel better when I drink water.
I've known of plenty of people to get dehydrated and tired from not drinking enough water - I've never known anyone to drink so much water they flushed all their electrolytes out (it is possible of course). So drink enough water everyone! :)
