For many people losing 20 pounds in a month would be a dream. Put that dream right in front of you because I am saying that there are ways that you can lose 20 pounds in a month.

To get started on any weight loss goal is easy but you need a strategy and tactics in order to lose 20 pounds in a month. Your strategy towards any goal is the broad strokes, the big concepts that are important. Here is your weight loss strategy

Increase your resting metabolism
Reduce your calorie intake
Quickly burn calories during cardio and weight workouts

Now that you have a strategy to lose 20 pounds in a month so now you need the tactics that will make it a reality. You need radical changes to lose 5 pounds a week.

Your tactics are the individual things that will make your dream work out for you.

Eating Tactics to lose 20 pounds

Plan your eating the day before – If you plan your eating the night before then you are not going to have to worry about getting into a struggle of eating these crappy foods and instead will know what you are going to eat when.

Eat 5 or 6 small meals a day – This is going to help you to raise your metabolism. When you eat often you are sending a message to your body that you are not going to starve and that you will always have enough to eat.

Have leftovers a lot to make it easier to eat good food – If you make giant helpings of meals then you will have lots of leftovers to choose from. One of the problems that I always hear from people is that they are worried that if they have to eat really often then they will spend their whole life preparing meals. this is just not at all the case.

Eat meals that are small – One thing that drives me crazy is how we allow our bodies to waste food. It is hard to find a steak smaller than 8 ounces in a reaturant but did you know that your body has almost no way for digesting and using more than 4 ounces of that steak?

Eat lots of fiber – Fiber will increase metabolism and make you healthier by cleaning out toxins.

Drink lots of water – Who cares what the so called experts say. Water makes your metabolsim faster and makes you feel great

Exercise Tactics to lose 20 pounds in a month

Exercise twice a day – One 20 minutes workout in the morning and another one in the evening.

Do weights once every second day – Getting muscle will help your body burn more fat. The muscle takes a lot of calories to maintain while fat takes nearly none.

Split your cardio workouts between high and low intensity – High intensity to burn a lot of carbs off and low intensity to finish of the fat hanging around

Cardio is 20 minutes of hard cardio – Hard cardio is defined as keeping your heartrate up around 80% of your max. This will raise your metabolism for a long time 12 – 24 hours.

Walking or casual exercise can be an hour long – This is a great way to burn fat as you can exercise low impact by walking for an hour.

Weights should be basic exercises – Basic exercises are things like squats, bench presses, lunges, military presses. These exercises work a lot of muscle groups at once.

Healing between workouts is most important – Now that you are working out it is a good idea to get a lot of rest and sleep so that your body can recover. Your body only recovers when you are sleeping or at least resting.

There are no guarantees of course that you will lose 20 pounds in a month but just look at this plan of attack. Is this different than you are doing now?       I read this article and for me, it works. Although I didn’t follow this article, I did what I thought was logical, something similar. I was a former Ford Model always at 114 lbs. As I got older I went up to 145. I didn’t want to go down to 114 but I wanted a median. It’s really easy for me to starve myself and not exercise.. I use to have a meal a week and a cookie a day with a protein shake. lose the weight that way, but this time I did it different. I did 40 minutes a day on my elliptical full speed and 20 min cool down. Every other day I did this ball workout (bought a DVD) for 45 minutes.It focused on toning and abs. So every other day I worked out for almost 2 hours. Sundays I took off.. but made sure i was active. My meals for 30 days were Oatmeal and strawberries in the morning, big salad for lunch (no cream dressings and just veggies) and a Chicken breast with green beans for dinner. I also had a multivitamen each day. After workouts I’d get hungry so I ate a grapefruit. For 30 days, I didn’t cheat or drink alcohol. Will power I guess. Now that I’m 123lbs, I want to stay this weight. I workout 4 days (just cardio) I still eat the meals 5 days a week and the other 2, Im still cautious but not so strict. I’ll drink Vodka sodas, and make sure on sunday I have a meal of my choice. Thats how I lost my weight.

      Im 15, in 137 pounds and im 5′3. seriously, i dont look like im 137 pounds, every says i looks like 115/120 ! when i was in 7th grade i weighed 114, and then i gained like 15 pounds in 8th grade, then 5 pounds during winter and a couple pounds in the summer- but im really working on toning, and excersizing everday. im happy, but i could be happier! im tryinggg this hopefully i get GREAT results, be back in a month!!!!!

      GUYS this program really works!!! i’ve done this program since the day i posted the other comment (july 17) (age 15) and it has not even been a month and because ive doubled the work out time and the intensity i’ve already lost 25 pounds!!! If u want to lose weight fast double your workout if u can handle it!! After weighting 190 pounds last month now i weight 165!!! im surprised!! you just have to work out twice as hard and follow all of the instructions. I will continue this program until i weight 145 (i wanna build more muscle) and I know I will make it!! This program is easy guys if you believe in yourself!!! GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!

      OMG what a coincidence! I’m 12 and i weigh 122 lbs, too
      well now i weight a little bit less because i just started a routine.
      If you have a treadmill or weights or a stepper then you’re going to want to use one of those for about at least 2 hours every day, and don’t starve yourself, eat about 5 very small meals a day, and everyday try to eat celery, it’s anti calory which means that your body actually burns calories to digest it. Take a notebook and write down why you want to lose weight and what you are going to do to achieve your goal. It will help you gain confidence because since you really took the time to write it down you will be thinking about it when you feel like you want to give up, and if you have enough will power, it will work. Trust me, i though it was stupid, but it did seriously work, though. I thought there was no way out, but then i realized that it’s a lot easier than you think. You just tell yourself that you’d rather give up all the junk food and be in great shape so that after about 1 1/2 months you can eat chips and everything sometimes and not feel bad about it. And once you start, it gets easier because you will see results after about 1 week and you will actually look forward to getting exercise all the time. Just remind yourself that you really want to do this, and if it is possible, then you will, no acceptions. I hope i helped, and i’m with you all the way. Good Luck!!!!!!       Jessica, the idea of cardio workout is that you have to change it up. I suggest for cardio workouts, do ten minutes of hardcore running and ten minute elliptical. and build it up from there. don’t stick to same workout everytime, change it up. b/c the body adapts really easily to these things.

      I am 19, and an unflattering 175lbs. I used to weigh between 145 and 150 which, due to my build (I have a huge rack) is an attractive, healthy weight for me. I basically NEED to lose 20 pounds. I just don’t know how to stay motivated. I get started really well, for example, I was keeping a food log and keeping my calorie intake below 2,000 cals a day. It helped. I enjoy working out when its done on a whim and not because “I have to work out”. I also really like yoga. I work a 2 1/2 day shift with adults with developmental disabilities and mental health issues, so working out for 2 hours Monday afternoon through wednesday night is out of the question. What can I do to Lose weight efficiently without starving myself, yet achieve the results I want in a reasonable amount of time. I think 3 to 4 months is reasonable for my weight loss goal. I also understand that this isn’t a start to end kind of thing, that I will have to work out regularly for the rest of my life and continue to make smart choices about my food. I just don’t know what I can do to really get the weight off for good.

      So i’m 15. i’m 5′3” and weigh 120 pounds.
      i want to be around 105-100 and i can’t lose weight!
      My chubbalubba just attacks my tummy and my thighs.

      hey hey! i’m 5′9” and weigh about 150 now, 20 years old. i went through a lot of therapy from being in an abusive relationship for 2 years. I weighed 115 in January. I just hope to lose some weight before halloween. My next goal is be back around 120 by my birthday which is the end of december.

      October is like my favorite month! yay halloween :]

      Okay, I am 12 years old. When I started (tell u in a sec about what) I weighed 145.6
      I am about 5′5″.

      My parents made a deal with me that if I lost 20 pounds by November 16 (basketball tryouts) I could get an ipod touch. I seriously need this, cause i just have a tiny shuffle and it’s so hard finding my music.

      I am going to try this and I really hope it works. If it doesn’t and I don’t get to my goal, I don’t think I will get my ipod touch.
