Lose Weight Quickly ‘Guaranteed’: Is It A Scam? Print This Post

When people want to lose weight quickly, if they see a ‘guarantee’ they are likely to be tempted towards that offer. Is is just sales talk though? Let’s find out more by looking at some facts. Many people looking for a sudden weight loss have an event coming up – a wedding or a prom night or something. A high school reunion is another popular event. As the date draws closer, we realize how much weight we have put on over the years. Teenage competitiveness comes back into play and we want to make a good impression on our old friends … and perhaps even more on our old enemies! But even if your wish to lose weight is more general and not related to an upcoming event, you would probably like to see the excess fat disappear as fast as possible. Let’s face it, if you ask the average dieter whether they want to lose weight quickly or lose weight slowly, it does not take a rocket scientist to work out which they will pick. And this is true even though the majority of dieters know very well that there is more chance of their weight staying off if they lose it slowly. They know in their heads that 1 or 2 pounds a week is ideal, and more is not better … but it does not feel that way! So there is a huge market for quick weight loss plans and products. But can they really guarantee that you will lose a certain amount of weight within a specified time? Of course the answer is that they cannot. They may have clients who did lose 10 lb in 10 days or whatever it is, and it may even be true that if you take the average overeating person and put them on this diet then they will be likely to lose that amount, but they cannot guarantee it. Everybody’s circumstances are different. Nobody is average in fact! So if you read the guarantee carefully, all they will usually say is that if you are not happy with your weight loss you can get your money back. This is not too risky for them because probably one of three things will happen: 1. You follow the diet, you lose whatever they guaranteed, and everything is fine. 2. You more or less follow the diet and maybe you don’t lose as much as they said but you are happy because you did lose some weight. 3. You don’t manage to stick to the diet and you don’t lose any weight, but you don’t claim a refund because you think this was your fault, even if the diet seemed impossible to follow. Remember, the success of any diet depends on two main factors – the person’s metabolism and the person’s motivation. Neither of those things can be known by a sales pitch, so neither can be guaranteed. The best thing to do when it comes to quick loss of weight is to consider the facts of biology and nutrition. So to sum up, there is no real way to guarantee quick weight loss, and you should not take too much notice of claims that you will lose a lot of weight fast. Slow and steady weight loss is the healthy route, however tempting it may sound to lose weight quickly. Looking to make a change and lose some weight? I have reviewed the top diet on the internet and you can go and read over 200 comments people have made about why this diet has worked well for them, as well as some of the problems. I think guaranteed weight loss is a promise that is almost impossible to resist. However, it’s kind of ironic because we don’t really believe it logically. So it’s our emotion that can’t resist it. Also, it just serves to make people more skeptical of all the hype.
I agree, lose weight quickly schemes usually lack any real substance. The most effective way to lose weight, for good, is to do it slowly and through a healthy diet and exercise. No crazy diets, no starving yourself, simply healthy living is the way to do it. In my own opinion at least
Losing weight fast is possible but it won’t work on your metabolism. You’ll gain weight right away once you succeed on this but its bad for your health.
Losing excess weight and keeping it off involves a real lifestyle change and there’s no shortcut to that. A guaranteed weight-loss scheme therefore means a gradual melting-away of body fat as a person makes the change towards a healthier (and happier) lifestyle.
@ Kharmen: Making gradual changes towards a healthier lifestyle is the best (and most permanent) way to deal with excess fat- I’ve had first hand experience when I started substituting sodas with cold water and juices. I also started to walk/bike to nearby locations instead of driving or taking an elevator (at the office). I was surprised to find out I’d lost significant weight without really feeling like I tried. Now I have to go shop for a belt- something I haven’t worn in years. = D
Most people buy hope, and once they see hope in the form of a guarantee, they will buy. They most probably will never carry out the requirements of the program, but you know, “hope dies last”.
@Kharmen: What you said about drinking cold water and fresh juice instead of sodas can help speed-up weight-loss for sure, but a friend (who has a really nice figure) told me it’s better to drink lukewarm water as this is better for breaking down fats and keep weight off? Any truth to this?

On the contrary, some say drinking cold water is more effective as it the body has to use up calories to heat-up the water to body-temperature level. Plus, lukewarm water isn’t really that refreshing or inviting to drink.
