more-to-loveLast night as I was settling into bed to go to sleep my wife flicked on a new reality TV show called More to Love. I am a sucker for most reality TV and this show looked intriguing. The idea behind More to Love is just like the Bachelor or the Bachelorette where one person has a group of people who want to get to know them and fall in love. The spin with More to Love is that the guy is 300 pounds and all 20 women are plus size girls ranging from 190 to 279 pounds.

The show itself was fun to watch although it was a bit painful at times. The guy, Luke Conley, is a real estate investor and has lots of confidence although he says he has had his heart broken before because of his weight. The girls on the other had mostly have a lack of confidence and that is what was a little painful to watch, the girls are really nice and many of them are in fact beautiful, they seem to have everything together but often they do not have the confidence socially and all have sad stories to tell of never having dated.

The show was good to watch though with my wife and I laughing at some of the characters funny comments and Luke Conley stealing kisses from any of the women that he could. You can really tell the Bachelor show people are involved in the way the whole whow is setup except for the fact that there is no rose ceremony, instead there is a promise ring ceremony which seems strange to be giving rings to so many women.

I told my wife that it would be cool to merge a show like this with the Biggest Loser and see what kind of transformations that people would see in themselves and their confidence but then that is why I am not in the business of writing or producing reality shows.

Did you watch the show? How did you like the people and the show itself?

    1. so sad that they target the overweight for entertainment

Large people tend to get a hard time and they are generally low on confidence, they need support.

I find it all quite sick, bullying is never an attractive trait.

I don’t like the concept at all. It’s not like the biggest loser, which is about taking health and fitness seriously and gives an inspirational story (albeit a little cheesy). And from the stats I’ve seen, it really has affected the lives of many. This show seems to be taking advantage of people’s unhealthiness and even glorifying it.

    5. Ram Rengel says:

I don’t like the show. They are “exploiting” the contestants and the bachelor for being overweight. The show is also giving out a message to the public that it is okay to be overweight, which to me should be discouraged.

I’m not a big fan of the show. Watched it a couple of times and agree with Ram Rengel. As others have said it is glorifying peoples unhappiness !

search the google then find your site.
that is a really excellent post.

      Thanks for the post.

I think it’s great there is a show for overweight people that they can feel identify with. Normally, in the bachelorette shows, overweight people wouldn’t be considered among the finalist, just because their weight. It’s good that there are shows like this one.

    9. Aimee says:

i agree with carlcaroll it gives the larger people a chance to shine , a chance to find love and be famous

    10. Depends on how they are filmed I think, sometimes producers and directors show a negative angle which is not helpful.

    11. If it doesn’t set them up badly then theres no different to anyone else. I dont like laughing at people.

    12. I didn’t see the show, however after reading your post I can understand why you and your wife had the reactions to it that you did. I especially liked your idea about merging a show like that with “The Biggest Loser.” I have seen that show and knowing that all people, especially those who don’t have one, want to be with someone. And being overweight, and the lack of confidence and self esteem that goes with it, is one of the strongest motivators for people to lose weight. Interesting idea you had!!!
