Have you ever sat down to something and next thing you look up and a couple of hours have gone by?

“Where did those hours go?” you ask?

Well I seem to be doing the same here on the blog. I had this brainstorm a few weeks ago that I wanted to make some changes to the Fitness Tips Blog and started looking around at different Wordpress (the engine that runs this thing) themes and started modding a few things and next thing I know I have stepped away from the blog and been a computer geek instead.

Anyway, the reason that I stepped away in the first place is that I realize that there are limitations to theĀ  format that I have been writing to you with over the last three years. I have written nearly 1000 posts and trying to get through all of that is difficult. One of the things that I use to reduce the difficulty to readers is by using categories. That is great but a little cumbersome as well.

Next problem that I have here is that most of the page is filled with my last 5 or 10 posts. That is great if you are coming to the site every day or every week but what about the guy or gal that stumbles over here and really would be interested in something I wrote just a month ago, they may never find it.

Finally, I want to start writing on lots of fitness subjects, update the forum, setup a little store and still keep things easy to find. That is the problem that I really have in this layout.

So what am I going to do? Well I am going to make Fitness Tips For Life a bit more of a portal. I am going to be making some changes over the next week or two amidst moving houses and these changes will make the top of the page full of navigation instead of just the right side over —–> that way. And then the current stories will be below that navigation.

I have been testing this method with another blog that I have, Family Vacations, of course I want to keep the same look and feel as I have now here because I still really like the look. The big difference will be the navigation and probably the fonts and other boring stuff.

Anyway I will now be posting a lot more than I have been the last few weeks. The changes are just a few days away and I really hope that you like the changes.
