So the season is underway with the classic long 2 hours of TV that we are used to. Shouldn’t they make the show shorter so that people can get their exercise?

Anyway they had a bit of an intro of each of the people and then the first challenge was running a mile to see who would start with immunity, not good for a couple of people as Moe and Tracy had to be arilifted to the hospital.

There are real gut wrenching stories as I was saying in my last post but all of these people realize that this is a real final chance for them to make a change to live a healthy and longer life. Read the rest of this entry »

I know that we just watched the finale of the Biggest Loser Families a couple of weeks back or so but there is already another Biggest Loser starting tonight. Biggest Loser Families.

I think this is the second go round for Biggest Loser Couples as we had one a few seasons ago as well. My wife bought a prevention magazine a couple of weeks ago and they had bios in there for all of the new contestants.

Believe it or not this is the 7th season of the Biggest Loser. It seems like not too long ago that the first season started with all of the excitement of people wondering what it was about.

This season will start with 11 teams of two including one team, Jerry and Estella, that are the oldest in the shows history. Again this season Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels will be the trainers.

If you just can’t wait to see the new people tonight you can see the rundown on the NBC Biggest Loser site.

So tonight we sat down and watched the finale of Biggest Loser Families. My daughter, wife, and I had a great time watching everyone looking great after there big losses.

The show started with the decision that America made between Heba and Ed to see which half of the couple was going to be the third finalist.

After the decision that america made they markched out the people that were kicked of the Biggest Loser Families four at a time until there was no more skinny people left. Every time that they brought out another four people we were more shocked at how fantastic they all looked. After the weigh in decided who was the winner of the $100,000 at home trained prize they moved on to showing us the transformations of the final two that we had not already seen.

Now for the spoilers, click the “Read the rest of this story” link to see who won.

I just watched the Biggest Loser and they had Dave from Mens Fitness on. In a challenge tonight it was a better food choice type challenge The contestants were supposed to be choosing one food over the other.

Multigrain bagel with light cream cheese vs a McDonald’s style have and Egg McMuffin

OK, I like the Egg McMuffin lots. Thesy are yummy and greasy and not good for you and neither is the bagel. The Egg McMuffin was deemed to be better but man that is a lot fo calories

Burritos vs 18 light beers

We all know that burritos are not really good for you and they were apparently a better choice than 18 light beers but come on. The kicker was that 17 light beers would have been better. Would either of these be a healthy choice? Beer will slow you metabolism, the Burritos have protein but are really fatty.

Calories are not the only thing that matters for healthy eating. Watch the carbs, watch the fat!

Then to make things worse the trainers tip from Bob Harper was to eat Dark Chocolate. Again I love chocolate but isn’t it a bit irresponsible to be touting the wonders of dark chocolate a couple of days before Halloween?

I am still watching the show on the PVR right now but just had to comment on that.

Last year we had a great time watching Biggest Loser Couples and I think that as a season went it was really educational, entertaining and had a bit of drama that made it lots of fun to watch. Tomorrow, Tuesday September 16th the next season of Biggest Loser Families starts and I am again really excited to watch and blog about it.

This year there are eight teams of two and to add a bit of confusion there are four teams of husbands and wives and four teams of parent and child. The trainers again this year are Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper.

This year the  Biggest Loser site has a lot of info on the team members as well as a little bio and the starting weight for each participant. Also they are letting us know that the teams are split up with Bob Harper training the husband and wife teams and Jillian Michaels training the parent and child teams. Read the rest of this entry »

Bob HarperBiggest Loser coach Bob Harper is great. I just read a great little story about hiw roots and history before he was a coach and trainer on the Biggest Loser. The Globe and Mail newspaper has the story.

Apparently Bob Harper has a new book out, called “Are you ready!” and he may be plugging the book a bit so I am hoping that we will be seeing a few more interesting interviews and insights.

Watch around and see if you can see more Bob Harper sightings in the news and I am sure soon enough we will start seeing commercials on TV for the next season of the Biggest Loser.

I am looking forward to the Biggest Loser Couple finale tonight. There are lots of questions to be answered and the evening should have a lot of great reflections on the changes that everyone on the show has made. I know that it was only a few weeks ago that we got to see the second big weigh-in when both Mark and Ali were welcomed back to the ranch as the Biggest Loser voted off…or whatever we are supposed to call it, but there is a lot of time between that weight-in and tonights live weigh-in.

I don’t know who will be the one being voted back on to the finale tonight but according to our on blog poll it looks like Roger would be voted off by the fans on the NBC website.  I have some questions that I am looking forward to seeing answered tonight during the finale. the-biggest-loser.gifI know that all this season we have been seeing ads along the bottom of the screen during the Biggest Loser Couples that they are looking for more people for next season of the Biggest Loser and now NBC finally announced that we will get another series of the Biggest Loser families edition.

NBC has announced The Biggest Loser: Families — the reality weight-loss series’ sixth-season — will be part of the network’s Fall 2008 primetime programming schedule with 90-minute episodes airing in the Tuesdays at 8PM ET/PT time slot.

Last night I finally had the chance to watch the last couple of episodes of the Biggest Loser Couples that I missed while on vacation. It was an exhausting process watching TV for over three hours but a lot sure happened.

I was having fun watching all of the old people that have been kicked out weigh in again, it looks like they all have lost weight. I was most surprised at the old guy, Lynn, that left the first week saying that he was not really able to do it,  but now at home he was able to lose over 50 pounds. Neil also lost 50+ pounds but I have to wonder how the relationship between him and Amanda is, every time the camera panned over to her she would look down. I remember that Amanda was working really hard and Neil was always whining about how hard the workouts were so I can imagine that eating and workouts for a couple like this that are not very aligned may be tough in the house. Even bald Paul lost a lot of weight after struggling the last couple of weeks on the ranch. Read the rest of this entry »

I always lose track of the episodes as the Biggest Loser season goes on. I finally got to watch last night and wow there was lots of drama. Bob kicked Jillians but in the reverse stair climbing contest. Jillian teared up as Bob picked teams and there was another wrigleys gum product placement.

Anyway they really seemed to pack a lot into this latest episode. The 8 teams are now just 2 teams. The Blue team was chosen by Bob Harper after winning a reverse escalator challenge and the black team were the four teams left over for Jillian. It seemed a little unfair the way he teams were picked. Maybe the producers of the show want Bill to win this season but we all know by now how the Biggest Loser picks a winner, based on percentage weight loss. The fatter you start the higher the percentage weight loss at the end when you are skinny. Bob of course picked the heaviest teams. Read the rest of this entry »
