If you are new to elliptical trainers, it may be hard for you to pick up the best equipment for yourself. Elliptical trainers are available under so many different brands and price tags that it can be literally confusing and bewildering for a novice to select the best of them. At the end of the day, you would want to get the best bang for your buck – a machine that is decency built and priced. So how do you find such an elliptical trainer in this over-crowded market? In the following article I will tell you about two things you MUST consider when buying an elliptical trainer.
1) The price tag: Price is probably one of the major things that influence a buyer’s decision. If you are on a tight budget, you would naturally go for the cheapest model available. However, if you take a long and hard look on your health, you would actually realize that spending a bit extra would cause you much less headache than otherwise.
Let me tell you about my story. I was a cheapo as far as fitness equipments are concerned. Naturally, when a $400 elliptical hit the market, I fell for it fairly and squarely. I promptly got it installed in my room and started working out.
Unfortunately, the machine hardly lasted for more than 3 months. By the fourth month, it had developed a loud, shrill noise that was impossible for me to bear. I called on a few experts for repairing the machine but to no avail. In the end, it was a huge waste of time and money, not to mention the huge frustration it caused me. Had I invested a bit more in the equipment, I would have probably still been using it. Don’t be a fool like me and expect to invest at least $800-$900 in a decent equipment.
If you are serious about fitness, you would want to buy an equipment that lasts your lifespan at the very least, if not your posterity. If you consider the lifetime value of an elliptical trainer, you would actually be saving money in the long run by investing in a quality equipment.
2) The manufacturing company: You don’t necessarily need to get carried away by the name and popularity of a brand, but at the same time, you won’t want to buy from a sub-standard equipment manufacturer because that would simply leave a bitter taste in your mouth. While buying an elliptical trainer, you would want to check the following:
a) Whether your purchase comes with a warranty and if yes, the length of the warranty period offered as well as the parts of the equipment covered/not covered by the warranty.
b) Whether your purchase comes with a strong return policy or not. No matter how far and wide you research a product, the possibility of getting a raw deal is something you simply cannot rule out. Even though most decent companies offer you a “hassle-free, 30 day money back guarantee”, it is still important to check out the return policy of the manufacturer before making a purchase.
c) The reputation of the company, the length of time it has been in business, the experiences of other customers with this company’s products, whether the company prominently displays its contact information on its storefront (this is something you should check when making an online purchase), etc. fitnessman220 hebold11

You know you need to loss weight to become fit and that you need to workout to lose weight, but you hate going to the gym. A home-based exercise equipment is the ideal choice for a person like you. However, a few stumbling blocks might make your situation difficult.
Exercise equipments maybe comfortable and handy, but they come at a price, and depending on the type of equipment you buy, the price can indeed burn a very deep and large hole in your pocket. In this article I will tell you how to buy a fitness equipment on a budget.
It is no secret that a first-hand machine would usually cost more than a used one. By buying a used fitness equipment, you can save a lot of dollars. Additionally, if you need a fitness equipment of an advanced level but are unable to pay the price of a brand new model, a used equipment may just save the day for you, in that you would not only have what you wished for but at a much more affordable price.
Having said that, I know there are many people who are hesitant about buying used equipments, and I totally understand the reasons behind it. Some people are fastidious to the point that they won’t use something already used by another person; some other people feel that used equipments are bound to break down after a point of time. Believe it or not, if you buy used equipments the RIGHT way, you can get a decent fitness equipment at a bargain price. Now let me tell you how to do just that.
So which are the best places for buying a decent equipment at a bargain price?
a) Gym owners: If you have been working out at a gym for some time, share friendly relations with the gym owner, and have got the wind that the owner is selling some of his exercise equipments at half-price, why not grab a piece of the pie? If you have already worked out in that gym, you would know the quality of the equipments there, and believe it or not, quality equipments can be used for years to come, irrespective of their age.
b) Second hand shops: If you have a store nearby selling old home exercise equipments, why not buy one from them? Assuming that you know the store owner well, you can be confident that you would get a profitable bargain there.
c) Newspaper and magazine ads: Your third option is to read through the ads of newspapers and magazines. Often you would notice ads on used fitness equipments being sold for peanuts. Be careful about who you buy from, since not everyone posting ads in newspapers is necessarily honest and sincere.

Be it out of concern for health and fitness, or simply a desire to look like the celebrities glossing on the front covers of fashion magazines, people these days are getting more and more enthused about weight loss. While obesity has always been there, the craze for weight loss is certainly a recent phenomenon.
More recently, another big change has come in people’s mindset regarding fitness and weight loss: nowadays, more and more people prefer to buy a home-based fitness machine so that they can workout at home instead of having to hit the gym everyday.
If you haven’t yet joined the revolution, why not? There can be possibly three reasons why you may be hesitating to buy a fitness equipment for home. Let me clear all your doubts and hesitations once and for all through this article.
1. Convenience vs. Inconvenience: How many times have you cursed the gym owner because you had to cancel an important appointment or meeting in order to hit the gym? How many times did you have to skip your lunch or breakfast for the gym? How many times did it happen that you felt like watching a movie in the afternoon but that movie time coincided with the time you are supposed to hit the gym? How many times have you wished you could watch your favorite television soap and workout at the same time?
Well, these are only possible if you buy a home-based exercise equipment. Why beat the bad weather outside, skip your meals, or sacrifice entertainment for the purpose of working out in the gym? When you have a home-based exercise equipment, you literally have the gym right there at home. All you need to do is to get out of bed, brush your teeth, take a bath and start your workout routine. Come rain, fog or snow, you would be able to maintain your regular workout routine nonetheless.
1. Cost vs. Health: Let’s face it, just like anything else in life, exercise equipments cost money too. There are cheap and expensive equipments to choose from. Now, “cheap” doesn’t necessarily mean bad or inferior; in the same way, “expensive” is not always an indication of superiority.
You need to buy a decent equipment: neither one which is poorly built nor one that comes with a lot of bells and whistles. A decent equipment offering the bare minimum would be ideal for you, and you should expect to pay decent amount for such an equipment. Just think about it, if you are already a member of a gym you are probably paying hundreds of dollars there every month. Can you imagine how much money you would be saving by buying a home-based exercise equipment?
Or, if you are not doing any workout at all, let me ask you a question: is money worth more to you than your health? If not, then you shouldn’t hesitate in investing in a quality fitness equipment.

Just like brand new treadmills, there is a big market for revamped or refurbished treadmills as well. Don’t think that only those who don’t have enough money to spend on fitness equipments buy revamped treadmills. Revamped treadmills are suitable if:
1. You are a beginner or inexperienced trainee: Do you know that more than half of the people who buy treadmills never use it? There are many reasons behind it, but usually they are either too lazy or happen to find some other interesting workout machine. Of the few who actually use treadmills, most quit after working out a couple of weeks, usually out of boredom. Now here is something to analyze.
People usually get bored if they are made to do things that their mind or body is uncomfortable with. With regards to treadmills, you are bound to get bored if your body or mind doesn’t adapt to it (and the fact remains that treadmills are not suitable for every person). Now just imagine, you happen to invest one thousand bucks on a brand new model of treadmill, only to realize that you prefer some other equipment over it.
This is where refurbished treadmills can help you. Since they are priced very low, you can test out the treadmills without spending a bucketful of money on them. Once you are sure that you like the equipment and that your body has adapted itself to it, you can buy a brand new model. In other words, if you are a beginner and have little experience with workout machines, then you should buy refurbished fitness equipments (this goes not just for treadmills but any other fitness equipment out there).
2. You want to cut down on costs: Of course, money is an important factor to consider as well. With the world being hit by a certain economic slump, money is tight for most people. Revamped treadmills help them stay fit and healthy without having to make an intimidating investment.
3. You want to test out an advanced-level of equipment without spending an arm and a leg: If you are given a choice between buying a brand new model of the cheapest quality of treadmill out there, and a refurbished model of an advanced treadmill, which one would you go for? I would definitely select the latter option. It is no use buying brand new models of cheap treadmills; cheap treadmills are not only cheap in quality and options, but also come with a very short warranty period.
Moreover, the cheapest treadmills don’t always have the features you expect in a decent equipment. For someone who wishes to try out advanced fitness equipments without burning a deep hole in his pocket, refurbished treadmills are the way to go.
