Fat Loss for Idiots

Wow, I watched last weekd Bigggest Loser on the weekend and I expect we will see a lot of tears tonight as the teams start to really start to have to rely on their team mates. There really was a lot of stuff going on last week on the Biggest Loser and just as a recap lets look at what is going to have to happen tonight. Usually I have been hating the badly edited 2 hour episodes, especially when thecreators of the shows think that the Jello and Pizza commercials made us forget the last half an hour of TV and have to recap everything after a commercial break. But tonight will be an interesting Biggest Loser episode.

Black Team – The black team had a 24 hour luxury day where the got masssages, drank, ate fatty food, smoked and carried on till late in the night. We all though they would pat the price but they kind of didn’t andwon the weigh-in although they just barely won it. I think america hated the black team. There are millions of people across the US that would love to put their lives on hold for just a few weeks to unconditionally change their lives and here they were just taking it for granted and then trying to keep it a secret from Jillian.

Tara – Tara is a superstar in my books, nothing gets her down. Well last week Tara lost nothing. She was shocked and crying but it could have had a lot to do with what happened when she was away eating and drinking with the reast of the Black team. She will have to regroup and see if that one night really was the only problem.

Jillian – Will continue being Jillian, she got pissed at the black team for being out and really reemed them out. But, she has to build some kind of a bridge between the Samoans, Sione and Filipe, who trained with Bobs Blue team after Jillian ignored them in the training the week before.

Filipe – Well Filipe is mad and trying to train with Bob again but really Jillina is his trainer. This will need to be resolved and he and Jillian will probably have to have it out again. What the hell happened last week. That was some real drama. Filipe and Sione were eating badly and I guess he reacted badly to being attacked by Jillian for it but he snapped and screamed at her for not training him and left. Going to be fun to watch the end of this maybe.

Aubrey – After some klind of strange double cross Aubreys sister Mandi voted herself out so that the Black team would not vote out her sister Aubrey. Tonight poor Aubrey will need to see how it is to train by herself without her sister.

The rest of the teams? I am sure they will cause some drama of their own.

Do you know that there are two ways to lose weight, diet and exercise? As a matter of fact, you need to combine those two methods in order to lose weight successfully. Unfortunately, some people make certain silly weight loss mistakes and eventually fail to reach their weight loss goals.

Don’t make these simple mistakes that will ruin your diet

Cheating on your diet

It is very tempting to ‘cheat’ on your diet and eat your favorite junk foods straight from the refrigerator. Now, cheating is good as long as you do it moderately. However, if you eat more unhealthy than healthy foods, then you cannot expect to lose weight, right?

Many times, when people start an exercise regimen in addition to dieting, they think that eating a burger or two cups of ice cream or two packets of potato chips won’t make any difference in their weight, since they could easily burn off the extra calories with the help of workouts. Now that might be true for your thinner counterparts, but since you already have several pounds to lose, such unhealthy eating habits will triple your body weight, and no amount of exercises would be able to save you. There is no doubt that the overuse of whole-milk dairy products is one of the main reasons why such a big percentage of the fat calories in the average American diet are swollen with satts. We have been bombarded on all sides with the dictum that milk is our “most nearly perfect food.” Mothers are forever urging their children to drink milk. “Drink milk— it’s so good for your health!”

We accepted that premise fully, until a few years ago—until we began to dig out the truth about the various types of fat. Right then and there, we discovered that whole milk was not the “most nearly perfect food” for humans—although it was ideal for calves.

It is an entirely different story with skim or low-fat milk. It is immensely good for all of us, and perhaps entitled to the accolade, the “most nearly perfect food.” Read the rest of this entry »

When it comes to weight loss, you should never take someone else’s advice. One reason behind this is that everyone’s weight loss adventure is different. There are people who never reach their weight loss goals, and then there are people who not only conquer their food intake successfully but also lose weight and become slim.

There are folks who never lose beyond a certain amount of weight and then get stuck to that level; others make it successfully to the top. If you really want to lose weight, the best way to do this is to set a weight loss goal, and for that you need to have a clear idea of what you really want from your weight loss program.

Here are the four basics that you need to internalize to help you lose weight and not only continue losing but not put it back on Read the rest of this entry »

Fats are always looked at as a negative in a diet…well in almost all diets anyway, as Atkins tends to think that they are OK. The reason that most people try to avoid fats is that they tend to be less of a priority for your body to metabolize; the body would rather metabolize the carbohydrates and then Fat or Protein. Another issue with fat is the number of calories per gram, a gram of fat has 9 calories as opposed to Protein and carbohydrates which have 4 calories per gram. So your body is going to more than likely store any extra fat taken in as, well, fat.

So you should watch out for the fat in most cases. Still it is important to take in some fats, you body can not exist without any fats and in fact stores vitamins A, D, E and K in fat. These vitamins are needed to maintain good health. One thing to be aware of is that these vitamins because they are stored in fat can build up and be toxic…how toxic? Well I have not heard of anyone getting sick from them but without them you would surely get sick.

Research has shown, because that people who consume a high-sugar diet tend to consume lower amounts of fat and vice versa. If you think about this it means that your mind will look at a sugary or a fatty food in the same way and will crave both in the same way.

Most people’s questions about fasts are what kind they can eat to be eating healthy. There are three types of fat that comes from food. Saturated Fats, Polyunsaturated Fats, and Monounsaturated Fats. All three are found in foods that come from animals or plants, but the amount varies. As a rule, more saturated fat is found in animal than vegetable foods, where more polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are found in vegetables than animal foods. Cholesterol is also found in foods from animals.

Saturated fat is mainly found in foods of animal origin, but some vegetables also have large amounts. These are called saturated vegetable fats and are often found in processed bakery goods and nondairy milk or cream substitutes. These are: Beef, Brazil Nuts, Butter, Cheese, Chocolate, Coconut, Coconut Oil, and Lard

As a rule of thumb when shopping, saturated fats are solid at room temperature. When you have a lot of saturated fat in your diet, your liver responds by making more cholesterol. This raises your blood cholesterol level. It is the most harmful type of fat you can eat.

Polyunsaturated fats come mainly from plants. They are liquid at room temperature. Eating polyunsaturated fat can reduce blood cholesterol levels. Examples are Almonds, Corn Oil, Cottonseed Oil, Filberts, Fish, Margarine, Mayonnaise, and Pecans

Monounsaturated fats are mainly found in foods that come from plants. They are liquid at room temperature and can reduce blood cholesterol levels, but less than polyunsaturated fats do. They can, however, raise HDL cholesterol (the “good” kind of cholesterol) levels. Examples are Avocado, Canola Oil, Cashews, Olives, Olive Oil, Peanuts, and Peanut Butter.

Trans fats are what make vegetable margarines have a butter-like texture, and prolong the shelf life of packaged foods. The effects of trans fats are still not known, but it is believed that they, like saturated fats, cause blood cholesterol levels to increase. As we have learned over the last couple years trans fats can not be metabolized by our body so they are poisonous and very unhealthy
