These women usually go for the common route of dieting for weight loss.

At the same time, there is also a section of women who are already dieting. They are in a dilemma over whether to continue dieting or quit it forever, because the results they are getting are either absolutely disappointing or far from what they expected from the diet program.

No matter which group you belong to, if you wish to lose weight this summer with the help of dieting, this article is the answer for you. Read the rest of this entry »

With due respect to the huge number of posts written on the benefits of calorie shifting, I just wished that the authors of those posts had also taken the time to offer a few easy-go-recipes for the followers of the diet. Regardless, I am going to fill that need with my post. If you have been searching for some good recipes that go well with the concept of calorie shifting, you would be able to find them and more from this post.

For the sake of argument, I am making a few assumptions here, the first of them being that you are quite familiar with the concept of calorie shifting method of dieting. I am also assuming that you are a member of the fat loss 4 Idiots diet program, which follows the philosophy of calorie shifting diet. Now if those two assumptions are true, then you are going to benefit tremendously from this post. I will offer you a days worth of meal plan based on the dietary requirements of Fat Loss 4 Idiots.

For your information, these meal plans are only for the non-vegetarians; I cannot mention the vegetarian diet here, as it would mean infringing on the copyright of Fat Loss 4 Idiots. If you need the vegetarian version of these meals, you can access that from within their membership area. Read the rest of this entry »

Anyone would tell you that weight loss could be achieved through dieting, but what they won’t say is that a lot of mathematical calculations go into the dieting method. In fact, even before you get on to dieting, you need to know your BMI (or body mass index), minimum daily calorie requirements, etc.

Now once you start dieting, you need to count calories of every meal you partake of, since most of the conventional diet programs are based on the principle of calorie counting! Now if you have to make those calculations without a software, you would probably lose your sanity before fat!

Fortunately most of the software tools which help you with those mathematical calculations are available for free download online. Tools such as BMI calculator, calorie calculator, etc. are indispensable tools for anyone who is serious about weight loss!

There is another type of software tool available called diet generator. As the name implies, this tool would generate custom diet plans for you based on your food choices. That way you are spared all the guesswork and you could focus more on following the diet rather than preparing and planning it! Let me give you an example of such a diet program.

Have you ever heard of FatLossfourIdiots? It is a diet program based on the calorie shifting method of dieting. Calorie shifting is a different kind of dieting method than what you might be familiar with! Instead of forcing you to focus on just ‘low-calorie’ or ‘low-fat’ foods, it makes you eat a variety of foods.

The calorie contents of those foods range from high to low. With calorie shifting method, you need to plan your meals in a way that your average daily calorie intake level varies greatly! As you can understand, it can be quite difficult to prepare such a complicated meal plan, and this is where the diet generator software helps you!

The software merely asks for your food choices. Once you input your choices, it generates custom meal plans for you! All you need to do is to prepare those meals exactly as stated and eat them. Yep, that is all you need to do to get rid of that fat belly. Fortunately the diet generator software comes for free once you join Fatlossfouridiots.
Heck, if you don’t want to cook, there are diet delivery programs out there which would deliver readymade foods at your doorstep based on your dietary requirements!

Weight loss would have been surely tough without the aid of these software tools, isn’t it?

I just watched the Biggest Loser and they had Dave from Mens Fitness on. In a challenge tonight it was a better food choice type challenge The contestants were supposed to be choosing one food over the other.

Multigrain bagel with light cream cheese vs a McDonald’s style have and Egg McMuffin

OK, I like the Egg McMuffin lots. Thesy are yummy and greasy and not good for you and neither is the bagel. The Egg McMuffin was deemed to be better but man that is a lot fo calories

Burritos vs 18 light beers

We all know that burritos are not really good for you and they were apparently a better choice than 18 light beers but come on. The kicker was that 17 light beers would have been better. Would either of these be a healthy choice? Beer will slow you metabolism, the Burritos have protein but are really fatty.

Calories are not the only thing that matters for healthy eating. Watch the carbs, watch the fat!

Then to make things worse the trainers tip from Bob Harper was to eat Dark Chocolate. Again I love chocolate but isn’t it a bit irresponsible to be touting the wonders of dark chocolate a couple of days before Halloween?

I am still watching the show on the PVR right now but just had to comment on that.

Do you love bananas? If you love bananas and are struggling to lose weight, I have good news for you. There is a diet program which would let you lose weight with the help of bananas. It is known as the banana diet. You see, bananas are touted as one of most nutritious fruits ever, and you would be surprised to know that the banana diet is not a new fad. It has been around for decades under various names and forms. So let’s head over to discuss how many bananas you need to eat daily for weight loss.

Well, according to the diet program, you need to eat two bananas each before breakfast as well as before lunch. After that, you can have just one banana a little before dinner. That is about 5 bananas you could eat per day.

And if you have a habit of eating at late nights, you would be gravely disappointed, for the banana diet doesn’t allow you to eat even a morsel after 8 pm. It is a good thing really. If you eat something late at night and go to bed a little later, your body is unable to digest the food and turn it into energy. Naturally, it would deposit the undigested food as fat, thereby making you fatter than before.

Now the good and bad things about the banana diet.

The good thing is that it focuses on a nutritious fruit called banana for weight loss. In case you don’t know it already, banana is rich in potassium and fiber content. Fiber would keep you full for a considerable time; that way, you are able to suppress your appetite (and by implication, your appetite for junk foods as well) and lose weight easily. At least, that is how the makers of the banana diet envisioned the whole process.

However, no good diet is without some cons, and the banana diet is no exception in this regard. The bad thing about this diet is that it doesn’t dictate your food choices in any way. The only stipulation it has is that – regardless of whatever you eat, you must eat banana before anything else. Does that mean that if you eat brandy, soda, potatoes, chips, cookies, burgers etc. after eating banana, you would lose weight? Nope. Eating junk foods after having banana would be of no use.

Keep in mind that bananas don’t help you burn fat; rather, they suppress your appetite, so that you feel less hungry than usual. You still need to make wise food choices. This is an area in which the banana diet leaves you on your own. I would suggest that apart from bananas, you eat nothing except nuts, whole grains, natural vegetables, raw fruits, fishes, chicken, eggs, etc. They are all good foods, in that they not only provide the necessary nutrition to your body but also keep your overall calorie intake at a low level.

Teenage obesity is fast becoming an epidemic. Even a couple of decades ago, the level of teenage obesity was not as high as it is now. So what is the reason behind such a huge increase in the number of obese teens? Junk food intake is obviously the primary cause. Nowadays, teenagers prefer to gorge on junk foods over eating healthy meals. Leading an inactive lifestyle is the secondary cause behind teenage obesity. Instead of playing outdoor sports, you would find most teenagers glued to either video games or the idiot box.

Forget about parents, even doctors are worried about the increasing number of overweight teenagers. Obesity is often linked to harmful diseases such as heart attacks, high blood pressure, hypertension, high blood sugar, etc. Previously, heart attacks used to afflict middle-aged adults; nowadays it is not surprising to find teens and young adults becoming susceptible to heart attacks, and obesity is the primary reason behind it.

It is time that we forget about high-caloric pizzas, soft drinks, colas, sodas, sweets, burgers, beer, alcohol, etc., and focus on low-caloric organic and natural foods. Obesity not only makes you physically weak and unhealthy, but also affects your mental health. Depression, which is affecting so many teens today, is often a direct side-effect of obesity.

Now, we all know that reduction in food intake is one of the best ways to combat obesity. However, you cannot ask a teen to eat less since adolescence is the period of growth for the body and as such, it needs plenty of nutrition during this time, even more than an adult. However, you can certainly ask your teenage kid to make the right food choices and lead an active life. Here are a few tips:

a) There are basically two types of calories out there: simple and complex. Simple calories are available in junk and sugary foods (cakes, biscuits, soda, pizza, etc.) while complex calories are available in natural fruits such as orange, apple. You should develop a taste for complex calories and avoid simple calories.

It is not that you would never be able to taste junk foods. Eating junk foods once in a while is okay, but eating them regularly means inviting trouble for yourself.

b) Your present sedentary lifestyle has to go. Realize that you can never remain fit if you don’t ever move your body. Participate in outdoor sports, workout in the gym; engage in swimming or dancing, etc. Do anything that MOVES your body. DO NOT sit on the couch for 24 hours because that couch is going to be your deathbed.

You must have heard about the term ‘low-calorie’ diet. Truth to be told, the term ‘low-calorie’ is sort of a misnomer. It is true that the diet indeed aims to reduce your calorie intake, but it does so by reducing the amount of your carbohydrate consumption. As such, you may also call it ‘low-carbohydrate’ diet.

Different low-calorie diets restrict your carbohydrate intake in different ways. Some do it by reducing your overall carbohydrate intake. Others bar you from eating only specific foods such as white bread, white sugar, potatoes, white flour, white pasta, white rice, etc., because they are high on simple carbohydrates, the carbohydrates that trigger weight gain. As a matter of fact, any “white” food (unless naturally made), is rich in simple carbohydrates.

Usually, a low-calorie’ or ‘low-carb’ diet recommends increasing the consumption of organic fruits and vegetables because they are generally low on calorie content yet highly nutritious, and forbids you from artificial and processed foods because they are usually high on empty calories and contain little or no nutrition. In this article I will tell you about two healthy low-calorie diet plans.

1. fat loss 4 Idiots:

Most low-calorie diet plans would either force you to go hungry for days or eat like a mouse in the name of ‘dieting’. Fat Loss 4 Idiots is an exception in this regard. It actually keeps you satiated from all corners, while helping you lose weight at the same time. The makers of Fat Loss 4 Idiots claim that it is based on a certain ‘calorie shifting’ method of dieting, but when you join and look closely at their meal plans, you would notice that it is just a ‘low-calorie’ diet plan with a few exceptions such as:

a) You are allowed to eat both healthy and unhealthy foods, subject to a certain daily calorie limit.

b) While planning your daily meals, you would need to make sure that the sizes, calorie contents, and time of your meals differ from that of the previous day. In other words, you would be eating meals of different types and sizes at different times on different days.
Following such a diet has two advantages. First, it keeps you from getting bored of your diet. Second, when your calorie consumption level differs widely on a daily basis, your body would be unable to determine the level to keep your metabolic rate at and as such, it would always keep your metabolic rate at a high level. As you might know already, the higher your metabolic rate is, the faster you are able to burn fat and lose weight.

The disadvantage of following such a diet is that it requires careful and extensive meal planning on your part. Thankfully, Fat Loss 4 Idiots offers a free diet generator tool to its members that would generate customized meal plans for you on auto pilot. When I say “customized meal plans”, I actually mean that the generated meal plans would be based on your food choices. This way, you are able to lose weight while eating your favorite foods.

Although Fat Loss 4 Idiots doesn’t ask you to exercise, I highly recommend it. According to Fat Loss 4 Idiots, working out is not necessary since one can lose weight with the help of their diet program alone. While such a claim might be true, working out obviously comes with its own advantages. The main advantage of workout is that you are able to build strong lean muscles that not only make you physically strong but also helps you with weight maintenance long after you quit dieting, since muscles burn fat.

2. Strip That Fat is yet another low-calorie diet plan that I highly recommend. It is roughly based on the “shortcomings” of Fat Loss 4 Idiots. Several people disgruntled with Fat Loss 4 Idiots have found solace with Strip That Fat. So let me tell you where Strip That Fat wins over Fat Loss 4 Idiots:

a) Strip That Fat is very beginner-friendly, in that it comes with more detailed and useful instructions about the diet program than you would find at Fat Loss 4 Idiots.

2) Unlike Fat Loss 4 idiots, it doesn’t rule out exercises altogether. It recommends light, home-based workouts.

3. Strip That fat is way cheaper than Fat Loss 4 Idiots.

Having said that, there are a couple of similarities between both diet plans. Both allow you to eat your favorite foods, and the recipes you get are usually very delicious and yummy. One of the major complaints about fad diets is that they make one eat boring foods; that is where these two diet plans score a high point. On another note, both Strip That Fat and Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet programs offer you “cheat days” when you would be free to eat whatever you like.

Teenage obesity is fast becoming a ‘growing’ menace (pun intended). One reason behind it is that it is very difficult to handle and control the lifestyle habits of teenagers. Teenagers always try to live life on their own terms since they believe that they are mature enough to take all important decisions of their lives. Still, there are a number of ways you can make sure that your teenage kid is always fit and slim.

Have you ever taught the difference of healthy and unhealthy foods to your kids? Have you ever taught your kids how to identity those two types of foods? Have you ever offered him home cooked meals? Have you ever prevented him from eating junk foods from outside, or watching television for hours?

If your answer to all these questions is “no”, I regret to say that you have not really been a good parent. But you are not the only one of a kind. Most parents make their kids eat junk foods because they are not only a cheaper alternative to home cooked meals but also save them time. Most parents would prefer watching television or gossiping rather than cooking meals at home.

If a kid is not made to taste healthy foods right from the beginning, if he is never taught to identify good and bad foods, it is only natural that he would continue with the unhealthy habits of his childhood right into adolescence and beyond. If one has never eaten anything except junk foods as a child, it is not unnatural that he would develop a certain kind of distaste towards organic foods as he grows older. These unhealthy eating habits are one of the primary reasons behind teenage obesity.

Changing is a teenager’s eating habit is a lot more harder than changing the food habits of a little kid. The only way you can change your kid’s eating habit is by changing your food choices first. When you become proactive at weight loss and fitness, your teenage kids would follow suit. What you should be eating is something I would discuss at the end of this article.

Another reason behind obesity is the influence of television. Television not only makes a teenager idle but also influences his mind with those attractive ads on junk and fatty foods. As a parent, it is your responsibility to make sure that your kids don’t watch television for a long time period.
You should encourage them to indulge in outdoor sports or at least take a walk outside.

As a parent, you should neither allow your kids to buy junk foods nor bring them yourself at home. When junk foods are available just right at the corner, neither you nor your kids would be able to resist the temptation. For goodness’ sake, it is best to throw junk foods out of your home.

Your kitchen and refrigerator should be stocked only with organic foods; that way, you can make sure the whole family eats them more often than junk foods. Eating organic foods is one of the best ways to keep your calorie consumption low. This, coupled with a little physical activity, would do good both to you and your adolescent kids.

As for a diet program, you really don’t need one, but if you want to follow a good diet, take a look at the “Strip That Fat” program. This is a new kind of diet devoid of the stupid food restrictions of the fad diets. When you start following it, you won’t feel like you are dieting.

With Strip That Fat program, you are not forced to eat only one or other food; you can make your own meal plans based on your food choices. Strip That Fat comes with a diet generator tool as well that would build customized meal plans for you on the go.

Remember that as parents, we have the choice to teach healthy or unhealthy lifestyle habits to our kids. However, you need to teach your kids, especially teenagers, through action instead of mere words of wisdom. When you start losing weight as a result of following a healthy lifestyle, your kids would do the same. This is really a great way to fight teenage obesity.

exercise eatingEating before or after a workout is one of the most important determinants to whether you perform at the peak of your ability and recover from the workout as best as possible. There is a lot of science behind exercise and eating and in this article, I found this article in a magazine at a hockey rink a couple of weeks ago and could not believe how great it was, thanks to the Calgary minor Hockey Association we can tell you exactly how to eat. Following this pregame and postgame eating should make your workouts better and your performance better as well.

THE PREGAME MEAL

What you eat each day can have a big effect on how you perform. What you consume right before a game can be critical. Wrong choices can slow you down and even take you out of the game, while right choices can give you that competitive edge. The pregame meal can supply your body with significant amounts of energy, although don’t rely on it to supply you with everything you’re going to need. You’ll want to have eaten the right kinds of food for several days prior to your game to charge up your muscles with glycogen. Your body converts food into glycogen – the key energy source your muscles use during intense physical activity such as hockey. The pre-event meal can help with the following; Read the rest of this entry »
