Eat at the same times everyday
It is important for you to set a stable eating cycle so that your body knows when to expect food. Eat small meals multiple times a day
One of the best things that you can do for your body is to keep your blood sugar even and the best way to keep a nice balanced blood sugar level is to eat smaller meals often.

Don’t starve yourself, don’t eat large

If you have a giant meal, lets say for lunch then you will end up not eating dinner, maybe snack as a food craving fix in the evening or then not eat at all until breakfast the next day. This causes wide swings in your blood sugar and this is not only unhealthy but will also cause your body to start storing food as fat while thinking that it in danger of starvation.

Don’t deprive yourself but control your portions: Many people think that avoiding or depriving themselves completely of their favorite foods is the surefire way to avoid weight gain! If you too think this way you cannot be further from the truth!
If you deprive yourself of your favorite foods, your food cravings would increase all the more and a day will come when you would gorge on junk foods like a hungry wolf, thereby adding several pounds to your body in an instant! So a better option is to eat your favorite foods at least once every week! But at the same time you should monitor your food intake.
A good way to make sure that you don’t gain weight by eating your favorite foods is by exercising the trick of ‘portion control’! When you eat slowly and in small quantities, you would become satiated even by eating very little food. This way you would not only be able to satisfy your junk food cravings but at the same time keep your weight under control!
2. Smash all your beer bottles: Yep, you heard me right: open your cellar and throw out all the beer and soda bottles from there! Then promise yourself never to touch them again! Why would you do so? Quite simply, alcohol is high on calorie and sugar, both of which are bad for your health, especially when you are struggling hard to keep your weight under control! With alcohol and soda out of your way, you will find it easier to keep the pounds away and stay fit during the holiday season!
3. Buy tighter clothes: You might hate me for this advice, or think that I am crazy, but the fact remains that this is a good way of reminding yourself that you need to lose weight urgently! Think about it: how often have you promised yourself that you would lose weight before the next Christmas, and how many times have you failed to keep that promise!
It is no wonder that many people fail to lose weight because they simply don’t make weight loss their number one priority! I know that wearing tight clothes would make you feel uneasy, but it is this very uneasiness which would propel you towards the path of weight loss! The more uneasy you feel, the harder you would try to lose weight and become slimmer! This way you would reach your weight loss goal quite fast!
And by the way, don’t you want to be able to fit yourself in your favorite clothes? Make your dream a reality by doing this right now and eventually you will see that you are able to wear your favorite clothes without any feeling of uneasiness!
And that day would come soon!

It is easiest to gain extra pounds in holidays than at other times of the year. Guess why? Well you don’t need too hard on it! Come on, it is holiday season, so we don’t have jobs to run after, which in turn means that we are less active than usual. Add to it the gazillion holiday parties that we have to attend to, and the calorie-rich foods served therein, and it won’t take you long to add two and two and make four! Fortunately though, it is not too hard to avoid holiday weight gain! But how would you do it? Read on to find out!
Usually people gain a minimum of five pounds during the holidays; some even gain as many as ten pounds which is not good news at all, and yet some others quit their diet programs! However, if you follow my step-by-step weight loss strategy, neither of these things would ever happen to you!
1. Stay active: Okay, since it is holiday it is understandable that you are taking a break from your job. But that doesn’t mean that you would be sitting at home the entire day, right? For starters, you may take the entire family on a brisk walk every morning! Or, how about a short vacation!
If you have children, why not play with them for a few hours everyday? That way, not only you but even your kids would remain fit and healthy by burning extra calories! Keep in mind that working out in the gym is not the only way to keep yourself fit; there are other and much easier ways to help you achieve the same results!
2. Savor but keep your appetite under control: With holidays arrive huge arrays of tasty foods that are simply irresistible! And there is no reason to deprive yourself of these foods simply out of fear of possible weight gain! Holidays come only once in a year, and if you don’t enjoy yourself at this time, when else you will? Plus depriving yourself of anything is really not a very wise decision on your part, for usually it increases your food cravings all the more!
What you could do instead is to control your appetite! No, I don’t mean to say that you should pop dozens of appetite suppressing pills before attending any party! What you should do is just taste all the foods available at the party by eating a handful of each of them, but you must NOT eat beyond that limit! Don’t gobble lots of junk foods as that would make you fat!

With so much information available on diet and weight loss, I am still not sure why people fail to lose weight. Sure, everyone makes mistakes, but it is the magnitude of the mistake that will determine the success or failure of your weight loss plan. For example, if you make the small ‘mistake’ of eating one burger a week, it won’t make any significant difference in your body weight. However, if you make the terrible diet mistake I am going to outline in this article, then you have no chance of ever becoming successful at fat loss.
If you’ve ever followed a diet plan, this would sound familiar. The process goes thus:
1. You pick up a diet plan that is too strict for any average person
2. This diet plan basically deprives you of almost everything that you enjoy: chips, burgers, pastries, white bread, cakes, biscuits, milk, chocolate, soft drinks, etc. So you have no other option but to throw away all those things from your kitchen. You start following the diet program with all good intentions, and promise yourself that you would never quit it until you have lost weight successfully.
3. You lose a few pounds quite rapidly within the first few weeks. You seem to be happy with your progress when suddenly, one day you realize that you are no longer shedding pounds! You have hit a weight loss plateau. Read the rest of this entry »

There are some weight loss mistakes which, if you don’t rectify, can cost you dear. In this article I will tell you about two such mistakes.
1. Not setting realistic goals and keeping track of your progress: A lot of people have unrealistic expectations from their respective diet programs, and no wonder they set up unrealistic goals like those of losing 10 pounds within a week, or shedding all weight within a month! You will never be able to achieve such goals, no matter how hard you try.
When you cannot achieve your target, you disheartened and frustrated with your diet plan. That is why it pays to setup realistic goals right from the start.
Setting up a goal of losing 1-2 pounds per week is an example of a realistic goal. This doesn’t however mean that you will lose a couple of pounds every week; on some weeks you will lose more and on other weeks it would be less; on some weeks you might not lose a single pound, while on others, you may pack some extra pounds instead. Just caught this long article on Eating disorders on the main MSN.ca site. There are a lot of facts in this article and it is interesting that when people want to better their health sometimes they go to far and actually harm themselves by losing to much weight. I used to hate the talk of Anorexia and Bulimia being a disease thinking that it was just a way for some people to get attention but have really learned over the last few years that this is something that is a very dangerous disease with very deep rooted causes.
Eating disorders have increased in frequency as a consequence of society’s emphasis and preoccupation with thinness. Eating disorders are multi-factorial, with genetic, traumatic and nutritional causes. In North America, anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are the two most important eating disorders. They predominantly affect females.
What is the difference between anorexia and bulimia?
Anorexia nervosa is a psychiatric condition where people intentionally starve themselves because of a false belief that they are fat, or for fear of becoming obese. In reality, they are almost always underweight or of normal weight when the condition starts. It is estimated that more than 90% of all those diagnosed with anorexia nervosa are female, often from middle and upper socioeconomic backgrounds. This disorder usually starts in the years between adolescence and young adulthood, with the average age at onset of 14 years. Anorexia nervosa afflicts about 1 per 100,000 in the population at large, but the rate is believed to be higher among Caucasian adolescent girls – about 1 in 200. Read the rest of this entry »

People hate dieting because it deprives them of their favorite foods (read fatty and junk foods). When you start dieting, you will inevitably have tough times during the first few days when you reel under the pressure of hunger. Just think about it – you used to eat every now and then and now that you are dieting, you got to restrict your food intake. Obviously your body is quite surprised at the change of food habits but hey, there are ways you can make sure you can diet for a long time without troubling your body! In this article I will give you five tips to lose weight effectively!
1. Remove Sugary Foods from your kitchen. Do a search in your kitchen as well as the refrigerator and make sure there is no food left there that has high sugar content. Sugar or sucrose easily converts into carbohydrates once it enters into body. And as a matter of fact, unused carbohydrates are easily turned into fat by the body. You therefore, as a rule, should avoid sugar and sugar-rich foods. Read the rest of this entry »
