Who says snacking is bad? It becomes bad only when you eat cookies, cakes and biscuits as snacks! On the other hand, when you eat healthy snacks, they can help you lose weight as much as healthy fruits and vegetables. How, you may ask? Well, you might already be aware of the fact that the less you eat, the faster you lose weight.

Now, when you snack frequently, you are less likely to gorge on fast and junk foods, because you won’t feel hungry too often! Eventually, you will gain the slim and attractive body that you have always desired!

Cook your snacks

I know it is very tempting to just buy a packet of chips from your local store. But those chips are only going to make you fatter so you should AVOID them.

A new Reuters story tells us that whole grains will help you to lose weight. This is interesting news but really in line with what we would expect as whole grains are high in fiber and also are a great source for micronutrients. Whole grains are a great example of a good carbohydrate.

Often people talk about how we should reduce the amount of carbohydrates in our diet. Over the last 50 years or so we may be taking in more carbohydrates then we should be but one of the problems really is not always the carbohydrates but instead are the types of carbohydrates that we eat.

One interesting line I heard once has stuck with me for years when it comes to carbohydrates,

“If it is white, don’t eat it”

Well that may be true for a few reasons that I wanted to cover today. When we eat carbs they tend to come in all colors, fruit has all sorts of colors, vegetables have all sorts of colors and bread, rice and potatoes some in one color often and that is white.

Everyone likes to have shortcuts to losing weight. Although as we all know the important things really are to have a good diet and to get exercise.

Having said this though there are times that you can make a real difference quite easily. Some people make such incredibly poor decisions that they can turn things around pretty easily. So for these people here we go.

1. Stop smoking – Smoking lowers the amount of oxygen that your body can get to your muscles. In fact if you quit smoking the amount of oxygen in your system will increase even within the first day. Some people smoke in the bizzare thought that by smoking you will eat less and although it is hard to eat with a smoke in your mouth, this will be counteracted by the fact that you will not have the energy to exercise and keep yourself healthy.

2. Don’t drink – Drinking alcohol will lower your metabolism and force your body to store more fat. I do not know the details of this but if you go about having a couple of beers every night then cutting these beers out will make a huge difference to how you feel, your outlook on life, and your chance to be motivated to workout in the evening.
