allison-sweeneyWe have all seen Allison Sweeney gaining her baby belly over the last couple of seasons of the Biggest Loser but today I ran across the first pic of mom and baby on the People Magazine site.

When the time came for mom-of-two Alison Sweeney to shed the weight she gained while pregnant with daughter Megan Hope, 5 months, she drew from her experience as host of NBC’s The Biggest Loser.

“I’ve learned a lot about nutrition and how to count my calories” as a result of the show, she told PEOPLE at the second birthday party for pal Nancy O’Dell’s daughter, Ashby, over the weekend.

Losing the pregnancy weight with a Wii

Of course, juggling a diet and exercise routine with two small children and a busy career is tough, but Sweeney says she found a great ally in the EA Sports Active package for the Nintendo Wii. Read the rest of this entry »

I know that we just watched the finale of the Biggest Loser Families a couple of weeks back or so but there is already another Biggest Loser starting tonight. Biggest Loser Families.

I think this is the second go round for Biggest Loser Couples as we had one a few seasons ago as well. My wife bought a prevention magazine a couple of weeks ago and they had bios in there for all of the new contestants.

Believe it or not this is the 7th season of the Biggest Loser. It seems like not too long ago that the first season started with all of the excitement of people wondering what it was about.

This season will start with 11 teams of two including one team, Jerry and Estella, that are the oldest in the shows history. Again this season Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels will be the trainers.

If you just can’t wait to see the new people tonight you can see the rundown on the NBC Biggest Loser site.

Biggest Losers having a baby" src="http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2009/news/090112/marty_wolff.jpg" alt="" width="240" height="320" />My wife starts her day looking at the headlines on the People Magazine website and this morning saw this article about to Biggest Losers having a baby….and there is a picture of how they look now.

Marty Wolff and his wife Amy met during the third season of NBC’s The Biggest Loser in 2007, got married in March 2008, and now are expecting their first child in July 2009, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

Although they had been talking about having kids during their courtship, “After we got married, at a certain point, we let nature take its course,” Amy says. “We are very excited!”

The Wolffs, who live in Omaha, Neb., run a weight loss and self-improvement program called Reality Wellness. They also help organize local competitions, such as Shape Up Omaha, focused on getting folks fit.

“We take a token of what we learned on The Biggest Loser and applied it,” says Amy. “We’ve helped 250 people this past year lose 5,000 pounds!”

One question that I get emailed about more than almost anything else lately is “How can I get on the Biggest Loser?”

I know that many people are interested in the show, after 7 or 8 seasons now people have seen so many success stories on the Biggest Loser that they can’t help but think that there is no way that they can lose the weight they want to lose without getting on the biggest loser.

I for one don’t beleive that at all, no matter if you want to lose 20 in one month or lose 100 pounds in a year there are always ways to lose the weight without going on a TV show. Really! Believe it.

How to get on the Biggest Loser

Ok, now after that if you really want to know how to get on the Biggest Loser I have a plan that won’t guarantee anything but I think will improve your chances to get on the Biggest Loser. Read the rest of this entry »

Two of my favorite subjects all in one story.

Jillian Michaels from the Biggest Loser TV show is working with a company to come out with a Wii Fit type of game. As we all know Wii Fit has been really popular and I am yet to find one at the stores so apparently there is a big market for more of these games. Kinda reminds me of the fight between “Rock Band” and “Guitar Hero”. The game will come out in time for Christmas and I am sure we will see lots of competition at Christmas which can only be good for people to get into better shape in the worst weight gain time of the year.

Game publisher Majesco Entertainment has announced a partnership with celebrity fitness trainer Jillian Michaels for an exercise-themed video game for the Nintendo Wii.

“Jillian Michaels’ Fitness Ultimatum 2009,” slated for a holiday release, leverages the motion-based Wii system and Balance Board accessory to create a title that combines solid game play with a fitness regimen, advice and exercise techniques provided by Michaels, the strength trainer and life coach on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser.”

“I truly think this type of product will be instrumental in revolutionizing the fitness industry and will help combat the childhood obesity epidemic in this country,” Michaels said.

I am looking forward to the Biggest Loser Couple finale tonight. There are lots of questions to be answered and the evening should have a lot of great reflections on the changes that everyone on the show has made. I know that it was only a few weeks ago that we got to see the second big weigh-in when both Mark and Ali were welcomed back to the ranch as the Biggest Loser voted off…or whatever we are supposed to call it, but there is a lot of time between that weight-in and tonights live weigh-in.

I don’t know who will be the one being voted back on to the finale tonight but according to our on blog poll it looks like Roger would be voted off by the fans on the NBC website.  I have some questions that I am looking forward to seeing answered tonight during the finale. the-biggest-loser.gifI know that all this season we have been seeing ads along the bottom of the screen during the Biggest Loser Couples that they are looking for more people for next season of the Biggest Loser and now NBC finally announced that we will get another series of the Biggest Loser families edition.

NBC has announced The Biggest Loser: Families — the reality weight-loss series’ sixth-season — will be part of the network’s Fall 2008 primetime programming schedule with 90-minute episodes airing in the Tuesdays at 8PM ET/PT time slot.

The Fall 2008 installment of the Biggest Loser will be a “family edition” featuring teams consisting of two family members each, with the minimum age requirement being 18-years-old. Read the rest of this entry »

Biggest Loser Couples starts next week on NBC just a couple of weeks after the fourth season of hte Biggest Loser ended. I was up early this morning and finally got a chance to look at some ofthe articles and pages from the Biggest Loser site to see what this will be all about.

Biggest Loser Couple format

First of all it looks like the show will be a bit shorter then a regular season of the Biggest Loser, there are only 10 teams instead of what we would expect 18 or so. I have not looked at any kind of scheduling except for the first episode being right on New Years day for two hours. There will be no show competition I would expect that day and everyone with a weight loss New Years resolution would be a prime candidate to watch the two hour premiere. I wrote this article in anger a few months ago during season 4 of the Biggest Loser after Neil, one of the contestants gamed the Biggest Loser by cheating and drinking a couple of gallons of water right before the weight in. I am now again watching the Biggest Loser. But in reading this post you can see the anger that i had about the cheating and I certainly hope that the people that run the Biggest Loser do not let it happen again.

————————————————————————–

Well after three almost four seasons of watching the Biggest Loser as well as blogging about it I have now decided to boycott the show for good.

Anyone that saw tonight’s episode of the Biggest Loser was a horrible farce and hurt most of the contestants and I expect most of the viewers.

So, what happened tonight on the Biggest Loser, horrible gamesmanship. One of the teams conspired against everyone else but in the end one of the players, Neil, cheated by retaining water and gaining 17 pounds and instead of getting kicked out of the game he actually got what he wanted and that was for someone on one of the other teams kicked out.

There are of course no rules against trying to gain weight on the Biggest Loser but going this far is a terrible way to try to play the game.

NBC has always tried to plug the Biggest Loser as a motivational show where people come together and support each other to try to lose weight and change their lives but then they have allowed this to happen.

I know that there is no way to change this as the show is taped ahead of time so the next few weeks have already been taped but with falling ratings you have to think that NBC has conspired with the people on the show to create a ridiculous controversy that does nothing but piss of the viewers that still support the show.

for most people it is hard to lose weight and losing 1 or 2 pounds is all that most people really expect. For this show to inspire people with 10 pound weight losses and then to allow one person to game the show with a 17 pound weight gain is absolutely terrible in my eyes

Boycott the Biggest Loser by not watching it anymore.

<a href=Biggest Loser Season 3" src="http://www.fitnesstipsforlife.com/wp-content/uploads/biggestloser.jpg" width="116" height="111" hspace="5" align="left">Well the wait is finally over for the Biggest Loser 3. Last night they started with a two hour season premiere and this year the format is a little different. The show started with one contestant from each state with the trainers, Bob Harper and Kim Lyons choosing seven people each for their teams and a promise from the host Caroline Rhea to the other 36 contestants that they were still in it and that two more would be brought back. The start of this season brings more questions than answers, namely:

How will they bring back two more people? Will there be a decision to have the two biggest weight losers over the first two or four weeks come back? Will they just have the two biggest losers come back for the finale show?

You can keep track of the “other 36″ over at the NBC Biggest Loser site but the show should tell us a bit more as it goes along.

The other problem that I have with the starting format this year is the fact that having 50 people start and then only 14 continue somehow dilutes the show. We got a good 20 minutes of people telling their stories ( my wife teared up more than a bit) and then they leave 10 minutes later with a few parting gifts…that really sucks for the contestants as well as the viewers.

I will post again about the show itself but I just wanted to put in my two cents about that part of the show that we will hopefully get answers to in the next few weeks.
