Ask the average man or woman, and their number one body complaint will be belly fat. A sleek, toned mid-section is the single greatest quest in most dieter’s weight loss journey. How can you target mid-section flab and bloat?

Consider the Atkins Diet. This diet is ideal for fast-paced fat burning and is relatively easy to stick with. The primary principal behind the Atkins Diet is limiting carbs to force the body to consume its fat stores (like in the belly.) for fuel.

Dieters who enjoy meats and butters and oils will love the food selection. Beef, turkey, pork, chicken, shellfish and other meat favorites are staples of the Atkins Diet. Although alcohol and sugary foods are strictly prohibited in the earliest phase, the diet is less restrictive in later phases.

If you like the principles behind the Atkins Diet but are looking for something with a little more freedom, the South Beach diet may be the diet for you. Similar to the Atkins Diet, South Beach is a low carb, high protein diet.

Get a lean, attractive mid-section by focusing on healthier carbohydrates and shunning high starch, low fiber, and processed carbs. The South Beach diet also allows a small amount of some alcohols as well as greater cheese and vegetable options. South Beach dieters may also be pleased to discover a large number of prepared South Beach food items commercially available.

The Zone is another convenient diet choice that boasts prepared meals to make planning and eating easier. While The Zone limits carbs like South Beach and the Atkins Diet, the principle behind The Zone’s dietary regimen is insulin control.

The Zone diet is comprised of three stages and prescribes a 40-30-30 meal plan where 40 percent of calories are carbohydrates, 30 percent are proteins, and 30 percent are fats. This diet is well known for being the diet of choice for many celebrities.

If you’re looking for a diet that is truly a life-long change in habits, you may enjoy the Mediterranean Diet. This diet reflects the eating habits of Mediterranean peoples, who have long been known to be exceptionally healthy and fit.

The Mediterranean Diet calls for the dieter to replace fats and oils with heart-healthy olive oil. Meals and snacks are based around fresh seasonal produce. Protein comes from nuts, seeds, and moderate intake of high quality lean meats.

Weight Watchers offers a flexible program for banishing belly fat. The program combines two distinct dietary regimens from which the dieter can choose along with motivational meetings and tools.

Weight Watchers dieters may choose between a program that “budgets” food by assigning all foods a numeric value based on fat, fiber and calorie content, and one that allows for unlimited consumption of healthy, whole foods.

Obtaining a slim, trim abdomen is not the unattainable goal we sometimes tell ourselves it is. With so many options available, it’s only too easy to choose a program that compliments your lifestyle.

It is a fact that men usually tend to accumulate fat around their bellies and waists, while for women the usual fat accumulation areas are hips and thighs. Contrary to what you might believe, the task of weight loss is not difficult at all. In this article I will provide you a step-by-step approach which would have you start burning fat like crazy!

Over the years several weight loss solutions promising ‘quick’ and ‘easy’ weight loss have come and gone by, and almost always people have ended up getting disappointed with them and been forced to return to the old school of diet and exercise. Believe it or not, the proven ways to lose weight are simple and old, even if hard! Yes, diet and exercise may seem to be hard to most people, but you can, if you want, make things easier for you by following the two simple tips below.

1. Your diet must contain foods from all the essential nutrients: Our body needs four types of nutrients in order to function healthily: carbohydrates, fats, protein and fiber. A diet rich in all these four nutrients would help keep your hormones in balance. Cut down or discard any one of then, and the balance is lost and you gain weight!

People think that they need to cut down heavily on fats and carbs for the purpose of weight loss; some even tend to starve in the hopes of losing a few pounds. However, none of these beliefs are true! Like I said, a healthy diet should be rich in all the four nutrients above, and if it is lacking in any one of them, then that diet cannot be called healthy!

Here are some of the foods you may want to add to your regular diet:

Eggs, lean chicken, or turkey or beef meat, etc.: They are all rich in protein!

Whole grains, nuts, organic fruits and vegetables, etc.: They are all rich in fiber!

Cereals, potatoes, etc.: They are all rich in carbohydrates!

Olive oil, salmon and tuna fishes, etc.: They are all rich in unsaturated or ‘good’ fats.

Something else to you need to keep in mind is the source from which you are getting the required nutrients; for example, you can get fat both from a burger as well as a tuna fish, but the difference between the two is that while the first type of fat would make you fatter, the second one would actually help with weight loss!

two. Your workouts must be tailor-made for weight loss: People become bored of workouts simply because they tend to indulge in long hours of boring cardio. For one, cardios are really not suitable for fast weight loss, and for other, there is no reason to spend hours upon hours on them just to lose a few pounds of fat!

What if I tell you that you can lose fat by devoting just fifteen-twenty minutes on workouts per day? Sounds crazy I know, but it is possible with interval training. With interval training, you can burn chunks of fat simply by spending five minutes daily on it.

I usually combine weight lifting with interval training; while I spend five minutes on interval training, it is fifteen minutes for weight lifting. By spending just twenty minutes in gym per day, I am able to burn fat not only during the workout session but also when I am watching TV sitting on the couch with my kids!

Well today we are for the 2nd time we are cooking a turkey. I tried cooking one last Spring and it was good although a bit dry. Years ago my wife made an Easter dinner with her mom and it was really undercooked, that night we ended up having Turkey soup at 10 at night.

Just a couple things. Turkey is very high in protein, this is good, another thing stuffing tends to be high in fat so as good as the stuffing is it is in fact a bit fattening. One more fact that you can amaze your friends and family with, Turkey has a lot of the amino acid Tryptophan which will cause sleepyness later so when everyone has overeaten dinner tonight and is feeling tired you can then blame it on the Tryptophan instead of the overeating.

So in the interest of everyone cooking turkey for the first time today here are some instructions for cooking a turkey. Read the rest of this entry »

Most experts would tell you that there is no other way to lose weight except by starving for days! Now if you have ever starved you know only too well that it is easier said than done! Even if you are able to keep up with the hunger pangs, your body won’t tolerate it.

If your body notices that it is not getting enough nutrition, it will store existing fat (instead of burning it) for the purpose of energy production! This is the reason that you don’t lose much weight with starving, and you gain back whatever you have lost once you get back to your normal eating habits!

Fortunately however, you don’t need to starve at all in order to lose weight. There are five special foods out there that can help you lose weight easily and quickly! If you can lose weight by eating, then why starve? Read the rest of this entry »

You need meat in your daily diet to make blood, hormones, and supply the wherewith for body repair and cell-renewal. I know that many vegetarians are very healthy and I even remember hearing of a bodybuilder that was a vegetarian, but I like eating meat.

You need the high-grade proteins provided by meat, not for energy as some say but more for you to take in that protein and iron to help build and repair your muscles.

How much meat do you need?

If we were to strike a general average, we would say a half-pound of meat (or fish) per person per day. (Remember that chicken, turkey, and all other types of fowl, are also meat.)

This amount may not supply all the high-grade protein a given individual could use, but the eggs, cheese, bread, cereals, and beans you use to round out your three meals will give you all the additional protein necessary. Any reasonably healthy person who eats a half-pound of meat a day, plus three glasses of skim milk, can certainly take care of his or her protein needs. Read the rest of this entry »

If you look deep in all of the US Government info on the internet you can find gems of information. I am not exactly where I found this first but a couple of weeks ago I found the Small Steps site that is targeted at adults and teens to get them in better shape and to improve their fitness. Here is just a few of the tips

1.     Add lettuce, tomato, onion, and cucumber to sandwiches
2.     Add vegetables like bell peppers, broccoli, spinach, mushrooms or tomatoes to your egg or egg white omelet
3.     Ask a friend to exercise with you
4.     Ask for more vegetable toppings (like mushrooms, peppers, and onions and less cheese on your pizza
5.     Ask for salad dressing on the side
6.     At sandwich shops, ask for leaner cuts and smaller amounts of roast beef, turkey, or ham; extra lettuce and tomato; and whole-wheat, oatmeal, or rye bread Read the rest of this entry »

We had this for dinner a couple of nights ago. My wife hates to eat any kind of greasy meat so we are always looking for more low fat recipes then just having chicken or turkey chicken. This recipe, which is modified from another one that my wife found in a book was fantastic with lots of taste and a really smooth texture, moist and not dry at all. The recipe takes advantage f our crockpot which is nice but I get hungry just smelling the food around the house all day.

Originally this was a sandwich recipe but we had it over rice instead.

Prep: 10 min. Total: 7 hours 10 min.

1 cup Kraft Original barbecue Sauce
1/4 cup Kraft Pure Orange Marmalade
1 boneless pork loin

MIX barbecue sauce and marmalade. Place meat in slow cooker; top with barbecue sauce mixture. Cover with lid.

COOK on LOW for 8 to 10 hours (or on HIGH for 4 to 6 hours].

Remove meat from slow cooker; cut into small pieces or shred with fork. Return meat to slow cooker; stir until meat is evenly coated with the barbecue sauce mixture.

SUBSTITUTE: Switch up the flavor by using Bull’s-Eye BBO Sauce instead of the Kraft Original BarBO Sauce.

Vitamin B3 niacin is an essential vitamin for your body, and it is just one of the eight water soluble types of B vitamins. Nearly all of the B vitamin classes will help the body convert carbohydrates into sugar or glucose, which can then be burned to produce energy. Also known as complex B vitamins, B3 niacin are essential in helping the body break down protein and fat.

Complex B vitamins also play an important role with maintaining muscle tone within the digestive tract, along with the health of the skin, nervous system, live, eyes, hair, and mouth. Even though a lot of people associate creative with the aspect of muscles and muscle tone, vitamin B3 niacin is as equally important – if not more important.

B3 niacin is also important with getting harmful or toxic chemicals out of the body. It can also help the body produce different sex and stress related hormones within the adrenal glands, among other parts of the body. The vitamin is also useful for helping with sexual dysfunction as well. This can be great news for those who have problems with pleasing their mate. Read the rest of this entry »
