There are some weight loss mistakes which, if you don’t rectify, can cost you dear. In this article I will tell you about two such mistakes.
1. Not setting realistic goals and keeping track of your progress: A lot of people have unrealistic expectations from their respective diet programs, and no wonder they set up unrealistic goals like those of losing 10 pounds within a week, or shedding all weight within a month! You will never be able to achieve such goals, no matter how hard you try.
When you cannot achieve your target, you disheartened and frustrated with your diet plan. That is why it pays to setup realistic goals right from the start.
Setting up a goal of losing 1-2 pounds per week is an example of a realistic goal. This doesn’t however mean that you will lose a couple of pounds every week; on some weeks you will lose more and on other weeks it would be less; on some weeks you might not lose a single pound, while on others, you may pack some extra pounds instead. Losing weight in the best of times is not easy. But aiming for rapid weight loss adds the extra burden of doing it with a deadline. Asking for more means you have to put more into it. On the mental side, you’ll need determination, specific targets, a detailed plan, and extra discipline to stick to the plan. On the physical side, you’ll have to do even more exercise than you would if there was no hurry. You’ll also need to make changes in what you eat. (Note: Be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any weight loss program.)
First the mental items. Determination and discipline. If you want to achieve your weight loss goal in a limited time, you have to make up your mind that there will be no backsliding. Whenever we are aiming for a big change such as weight loss, we obviously need to change our lifestyle and eating habits. This is when we start making excuses. But you have to remember that excuses will take you nowhere. Excuses won’t help you to lose weight; diet and exercises will do. If you really want to lose weight, you need to be thoroughly disciplined. If you dig deeper into the kind of excuses you make, you will see that some of them are just baseless.
What you need to know is how to stop making excuses and reach your weight loss goal fast.
To save themselves from the rigors of diet and exercise, people tend to make various excuses. If you ask them to exercise, they will say that it is too boring and that they don’t feel comfortable doing it; still others will pronounce that they haven’t got any time for exercise because they have got to juggle with a family and a job. If you ask them to diet, they will say that they don’t have any time to cook those healthy meals or that it is too boring. Even though people want to lose weight, they don’t want to take the necessary action because of the fear of failure; hence the lame excuses. Read the rest of this entry »

Research has proven that if we’ve a single objective as our goal, and if we direct all our energies and resources towards the achievement of that objective, we can’t but win the goal. It is really true, and when it comes to weight loss, it is no different either. The very first thing you need to do is to make your weight loss goal your priority, and then enlist all the available resources and time towards achieving it. That is the only way you can lose weight.
I am not telling you to neglect things that are more important than weight loss, but I am pretty sure that the number of such ‘very important things’ is fewer than what you think, and I am also sure that you can, if you want, accommodate your weight loss program in this short list of ‘very important things’.
You see, nothing is more important than your health. If your health goes for a downhill, everything else that you set as ‘important tasks’ will have to stop. Now, how does this relate to weight loss? Well, you might not be aware of the fact that obesity is the forerunner of several harmful diseases such as diabetes, heart related diseases, hypertension, etc. Therefore, the main reason why you should lose weight is not just to look and feel good, but to make sure you live a healthy and long life. There are some ways you can ensure that you always find time for your weight loss program. Read the rest of this entry »

We all know that positive thinking is good but I for one get a little irritated when I see people that apparently never have a negative thought, it makes me feel like they are tuning out some of the stuff in life just to make sure that they are not negative. I am probably not being fair though because one of the real reasons that people do not lose weight is because negative thoughts will cause them to fail before they even have a chance to lose weight.
Lets Get Positive about Weight Loss Now
If you really want to achieve any goal, you need to think positive. This is true not just of weight loss goals but of every type of goal you might have. Be it a business or a family goal, you cannot achieve it unless you succeed in overpowering negativity. Once you set a goal, there will be obvious roadblocks on your way in the form of negative thoughts and feelings that will make you depressed and de-motivated. Your job is to weed out those negative thoughts from your mind and replace them with positive ones. Read the rest of this entry »
