Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It’s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant. Effect of Coca Cola on your bodyIn The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down. 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (Theres plenty of that at this particular moment) 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dialate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness. Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way. The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium. The caffeines diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water. >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth. This will all be followed by a caffeine crash in the next few hours. (As little as two if you’re a smoker.) But, hey, have another Coke, it’ll make you feel better. Yuck, this is not a nice message on what happens to your body as the can of coke goes through it but it is interesting. Maybe we should see the effect of chocolate next. Thank you for the information. I am addicted to coca cola, I drink 1 – 2 cans a day. Started a few years back when I was having stomach problems due to a medicine I was taking. The syrup in coke helped me to keep my food down. I drink it with ice therefore it can’t be totally dehydrating my system. I no longer take the medicine that made me sick but still drink coke. I stopped during lent this year but started on Easter again. During the period I stopped drinking Coke I would get bad headaches and ended up drinking coffee. I don’t think Coke has caused me to gain weight, I am active – 126lbs and 5′6″ .
Thankyou for the information, however much of it is very inaccurate.
“In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) ”
- this article is talking about a CAN of coke – it only contains 35g of sugar, which is just over 30% of the recommended daily intake. NOT 100%.
“Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.”
- again, a little bit of scare-mongering here, there are MANY differrent things that up your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centres of your brain. Dopamine is your brains own mechanism for ‘rewarding’ itself. The most common thing that ’stimulates’ dopamine production is having sex. But do you hear health gurus telling you not to have sex because it has the same effect on your brain as heroin does?…I think not.
I’m not saying coke is GOOD for you by any means, but I’ve drunk in excess of 2 liters of coke every day for about the last 7 years, and I’ve had absolutley no bad effects from it. I look after my teeth, and they’re fine. I’m not even slightly overweight, and I dont suffer from any forms of hyper-activity or drowsiness or anything like that.
But yea, obviously I’m excessive in how much I drink, but it just goes to show that it’s usually a COMBINATION of unhealthy lifestyle habits that cause people to have problems. NOT just coke. Trying to scare people into believing that coke is as bad for you as drinking bleach…is not the way.
phil let me guess you are overweight though.
only fat slobs drink 2 litres of coke a day.
Actually lots of people drink 2 liters of Coke a day. There is the sugar high you get from it as well as a lot of caffeine issues.
Go to a 7-11 and you will see a lot of people that are not fat walking out with super big gulps, they aren’t healthy but they may not realize it either
Although they might be overexagerating its a good thing becasue if they are putting people off Coca-Cola they are doing good. I think that soft-drinks are bad in general and i stopped drinking them last year after learning more about them. And for those out there who say they drink heaps of coke with no side affects, well just becacause you cant see them doesn’t mean there not there.
i drink 17 a day
17 cokes a day can not be good.
I hope you are a troll because otherwise I worry, really worry for your health
thank for the information soooo much it really did help me on my research paper for my sciense fair project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are doing this as a report and thanks to you we’ll surely get an “a”
THERE WERE SOME ONE WHO GOT KILLED BY COCA COLA AND SHE WANTED TO DIE READING A BOOK CALLED MUFFY AND FLUFFY AND WHILE SHE WAS DRINKING COCA COLA.?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Phil L definitely has the right approach to this article. Utter and complete bullshit.
@Random: Is a utopia built on lies not a utopia of lies? Is health built on lies not health of lies? Are lies inherently healthy? Apparently not, all societies and systems that have significant sources of lies are either heavily flawed, outmoted or destroyed. Health of Lies is not healthy. You who believe healthbolt’s bullshit are the same people who think you are “saving the environment” from driving a Prius, who, instead of Coke, drink bottled waterr with 5 packets of artificial flavor and chemicals mixed and dumped in it. i.e. Assholes
These are the same people who ( http://www.blisstree.com/healthbolt/this-is-you-life-on-caffeine/ ) state that caffeine is just like heroin in many ways, that state each symptom of drinking coffee as nails in a coffin. These article writers need to get a serious grip on reality. They need to get someone who looks fairly healthy to drink an actual cup of coffee or can of Coke and see exactly what kind of symptoms happen. I drink Coke all the time, for example, and my pupils don’t dilate. I never feel the shakes. This shit just doesn’t happen. I have at least 4 friends who don’t drink soda of any kind regularly who could testify to the truth.
And once again, I would like to thank Phil L for calling the article on what it is: a crock of the cheapest bullshit one can buy in the Scare Barrel.
a mi papa le dio un paro cardiaco ya que el se tomaba 5 latas al dia de coca-cola y es por eso que la odio………………………………….
