The fall of the Biggest Loser this season

This may be my last post about the Biggest Loser this season. As many people know I am a big fan of the show but this season there have been some real problems with casting and with content on the show so I thought I would outline the things that are causing me to lose interest in the Biggest Loser this season, very sadly, because this is a fantastic idea that has worked really well for a few seasons. This season the ratings are way down and I really believe that it is for the following reasons.
On the show, off the show, on the show – This season there was a really good twist where there were 50 people that started and the trainers picked their teams. I did not like the way that they just randomly picked people and the show was very deceiving in not telling the people that were excited about being on the show that they would likely not be picked for the show. The show sent the people that were not picked home with a promise that a couple of them would be back. No one told the chosen ones this. Why?
Attitude problems – In the past the people that started on the Biggest Loser were very excited about the fact that they were working all together toward a big goal and that was to lose a lot of weight, not just their weight but to help everyone else as well. This season there has been no shortage of whining by nearly every contestant that it is too hard and they don’t want to do it. We are used to seeing people crying but everyone always knew that the trainers had everyone’s best interest in mind and never fought the trainers attitude or methods, this season both Kim went through weeks of her team fighting her and second guessing her methods.
Gaming the game – We have now seen two people gain weight in a week so that they could lose big weight the next week. The tow time that this happened in past seasons the people were really ridiculed by the show about it but this season it is just part of the game. Also we have seen an all woman alliance from early on that has just tried to push out who they want. These are not teams, they are Survivor wannabes that did not get accepted to go to the bikini beach..
Non acceptance – The new players that came on the show this week that have been working out at home were openly hated by the current people on the show. What is this? Do the people think that they are the stars of the show? They are better than anyone else? Do they think that people losing weight at home are less than them? I believe that the frame of mind should have been “look how well these people did on their own. Maybe I am just not pushing it hard enough”. The other non acceptance was by Bob Harper the trainer. Bob looked at the new people as throw aways that were not really to be accepted. Again why did the show not level with the people in the first place and tell them that some people were coming back later? When there was a challenge and the new people had to move a bunch of bricks that would have taken forever so they did not finish Bob called them quitters. Bob, how many times do the people on the ranch quit? It happens and these people are not wimps, they were the best two weight losers of 34 handpicked people from across the country.
OK now I guess I have gotten all of this ugly attitude off of my chest but I guess I better have my own solution from now on right? OK here it goes starting with how I think the show should do this next season as this season is already a wash as far as I am concerned.
First have 50 people do the weight in and then send them home for 12 weeks knowing that the 16 biggest weight losers will be back at the ranch. There is a time lag from the show so this can be packed into just a couple of weeks of episodes. After the people come back have the game setup so that everyone is an individual and there are no teams. Have a simple formula to kick people out where the bottom three percentage weight losers have to compete in some kind of a challenge and the loser of that challenge gets sent home. This show is not supposed to be a popularity contest so don’t try to make it one. As for the show itself, the producers should be happy to show the best motivating people more than the sulky whiny, backstabbers. Biggest Loser is supposed to be about everyone helping each other; the crappy backstabbing is for Survivor and I think that there is no reason to try to compete with survivor on this front. Oh, one more thing. Stop doing two hour episodes. Apparently the producers of the show can not pace anything beyond an hour so don’t even try
Mostly I think that next season the Biggest Loser should try to again help people, show more tips, less product [placements, a great recipe and exercises each week and people will watch in droves. This show has been a highlight for millions of people on TV and this seasons move to try to change the show has been a failure and I am sure that the falling ratings is not because people are bored with the show but is because the show has been very badly done this year.
After all this I hope there is someone with some pull out there that can fix this show. I have loved the Biggest Loser over the last couple of years and would really like to see it recover and become as great as it was again next season instead of seeing the whole idea disappear as a one hit wonder

Well I like what you are doing for the people of the united states! But i was wondering if you would ever do a show in canada. I also dont like the people from home coming back on to the Biggest Loser! It is not fair to all the other players who have been there for 3 months and not allowed to see there family!
