We spend a lot of time trying to lose by resisting urges, getting motivated for workouts and by fighting to do the right thing. Have you ever thought that instead of pushing to get what you want you can also pull the goodness to you?

What I am talking about here is to just have a good mindset in the first place. Instead of having to think good thoughts just try for a while to only have positive and not any negative thoughts and see how much this helps your attitude all of the time.

Ever tried to lose a few pounds and failed? Well, the reason is neither the loss pill that you used nor the exercise routine that you followed. You may or may not be aware of it, but the reason is YOU!

You tell your mind that you are ‘trying to lose ‘, and in reality, your mind too is only ‘trying’ to lose weight, not anything more.

What Is A Weight Loss Mindset?

As a matter of fact, you cannot lose weight ‘by trying’; you need to set strong, actionable goals for yourself.

The very first thing you need to do is to train your subconscious mind to be strong and disciplined; an untrained subconscious mind will only take your orders as ‘truths’ and won’t go beyond that, to the point of ACTIONS.

This is why you will hear experts saying that goal setting is very important for successful weight loss.

Setting lame goals is however, of no use. You can set a goal like ‘I will try to lose twenty pounds within this month’, but it won’t take you anywhere. However, once you skip the word ‘try’, it will give a whole different meaning to your goal.

When you say, ‘I will lose twenty pounds by the end of the current year’, you are not only setting a strong goal, but also a realistic one.

Here are the three steps you can follow to get rid of this ‘trying’ sentimentality; once this happens, you would have won half the battle against weight loss.

Analyze Your Mind

Analyze your mind and try to find out the obstacles that are preventing you from taking a strong decision to lose weight. Maybe you think that loss is too difficult or impossible, or that you cannot do exercise, or that you cannot lose no matter what you do, etc.

Get Rid Of These Negative Thoughts

Your next step is obviously to get rid of all those negative thoughts. Analyze each of this thought and ask yourself: is there really any valid reason why you believe so? For example, if you believe that it is impossible to lose weight, why do you believe like that? You will find out that the reasons are as ridiculously as your ridiculous thoughts.

Fill Your Mind With Positive Thoughts

Your next step is to fill your mind with new, positive thoughts. Also, stop telling yourself that you will ‘try’ to lose ; instead, say: ‘I WILL lose weight, no matter what others tell me.

I WILL lose because I want to look good and feel better. I WILL lose so that no one can ever point a finger at my belly’. Giving such specific and strong instructions to your mind will help you lose very quickly.

  1. Cindy,

As a business owner, I can agree that is all in the mindset. If a person has the right frame of mind, he can truly do anything. So you are very much correct in applying this idea to loss. I pulled a few records on http://www.hyperwear.com and they appear to be a legitimate company. You can always check with the secretary of state or the better business burea to pull more thorough records. Bruce

  2. Sarah,

I just read a book called Think and Grow Rich by Napoloen Hill, and it’s all about the mindset. It reminds me that just as people use this to get rich in business, they can apply this to losing . Can’t you just go on ebay and buy an exercise vest instead of http://www.hyperwear.com ? I’m not familiar with that company.

Go lose that !! What the mind can conceive, the body can achieve!

  3. Yvonne,

Yes girl I hear you! I’m in my early 50’s, and I’m determined to get back in shape. Have you tried using an exercise vest? I bought one at Wal-mart years ago, but I recently found an exercise vest online at http://www.hyperwear.com

Have you ever tried that before?

    Toodles!

  4. I just sat down and Google’d mindset for successful loss and am amazed to find this post published only yesterday. I, speaking for myself, only have been stagnant for years and am now finding in my soon to be late 40’s that I’m never getting anywhere in the loss department and I feel myself becoming weaker due to less exercise. I’d like to find someone to share these issues with who will be brutally honest with me as I start to get things on track.

Thanks for bothering to post this article.
