It is Strawberry season and I love eating Strawberries a lot. I have just run across some great info on just how good strawberries are as a health food.

Strawberries are one of nature’s healthiest “packages” of power nutrients. There is strong evidence that strawberries are a heart-protective fruit, an anti-cancer fruit, and an anti-inflammatory fruit all rolled into one ripe treat.

A serving of strawberries will provide you with 210 mg of potassium, a mineral that will help regulate the electrolytes in your body, lowering your risk of heart attack and stroke. Strawberries are also high in folate, a key ingredient in the manufacture of red blood cells, and a possible aid in delaying the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

Strawberries are Packed with Vitamins and Minerals

strawberriesRounding out the roster of beneficial vitamins and minerals of note are B2, B5, B6, vitamin K, copper, and magnesium. Strawberries also contain omega fatty acids. All of this goodness is available to you at a cost of 45 calories for about seven medium strawberries. And not only that, but the fiber in strawberries, about 12% of your RDA per serving, helps your body absorb nutrients, inhibits the production of cholesterol in your liver, and helps stabilize your blood glucose.

  1. Hi!I never eat match of strawberry, Because I always thought that no taste when you it and kind of expensive. But I start eating the strawberry after Christmas because me and my husband are making a pavlova then I start eating bit by bit of the strawberry then I kind of start liking it 8-)) then since that I eat them as my snack or when ever I feel hungry or before dinner, so I don’t have to eat to much at dinner time.then I did a research about strawberry if they good for you.I was very happy I found out that eat g strawberry is good for you.now every time I do my grocery I always get strawberry first before my other fruits..

  2. Strawberries are probably the most fascinating fruits that are found in the summer months.those women who had higher strawberry intakes were also more likely to lead a heart-healthy lifestyle.

  3. The only problem I have with strawberries is it seems hard to judge which ones will taste good. I hate it when I get a box of nice red ripe looking strawberries only to find they just don’t taste good. Does anyone have any tips on choosing good berries?

  4. Strawberries are one of natures magic fruits. Thet are an excellent source of vitamin C, contain some vitamin B, and the small seeds embedded in their skin provide a good source of dietary fibre. The perfect fruit.

  5. Thanks for this info.
Strawberries are awesome, I love them. Although I am sensitive to nightshade vegetables, and I must eat them with certain caution, otherwise my skins shows red spots.
What do you think about this? Have you had other people experiencing such thing? Also happens with tomatoes. And I looove them!
I still eat them though, and use Chaparral coconut oil directly on the skin when the “redness” shows. It’s a very powerful cleanser that can drink or put on the skin.
Other berries like the Himalayan Goji berries and the Golden berries from the former Inca Empire are extremely delicious and nutritious packed with minerals and vitamins.
Thanks again, cheers to your health and beauty.

  6. I didn’t realise Strawberry’s had that much goodness in them! I suppose if you eat a good enough variety of all fruits (and veg) you will get the vast majority of vitamins and minerals that your body needs.

As much as I love Strawberry’s though they are quite expensive when they’re out of season so I don’t tend to have them in winter but maybe I should keep them on my shopping list all year round now!

  7. Even as a kid, I’ve always loved strawberries and made them (and other berries) a part of my morning ritual; oatmeal and berries. I knew they had lots of vitamin C, anti oxidants (anti cancer properties, among others), and fiber, but I didn’t know about all the other benefits you just listed. In this day and age of ‘this is bad for you’ and ‘too much of that will give you cancer’… it’s nice to read about something GOOD that I actually enjoy! Thanks!!!

  8. I suffer with anemia and due to the fact that strawberries assist in the manufacture of red blood cells this is a great boost for people like me… and they taste great too! Thanks for this info.
