What is the Master Cleanse Diet?

I believe no matter what some people say that the master cleanse diet is a great idea for everyone to try at some point. I will tell you a bit why.

Most of us go through life having some up and down days and exercise or try to eat better to improve how our energy, concentration and look are. Not trying to hard but doing what we can.

Well for some people that is just not enough. I know that years ago I was the picture of fitness and then through some bad decisions my body started feeling not so great. My wife had to do one of those one day cleanses and I jumped at trying it as well just for a lark on a Sunday.

I can tell you I felt great the next day and for weeks afterwards. That one day cleanse changed the way I looked at cleanses although sometimes the medical community is slow to pick up on the results.

Anyone that has listened to the Howard Stern show on the radio, or has seen the movie Private Parts has seen Robin Quivers, the straight girl to Howard’s crazy antics. Well I just ran across a quote from a People magazine article where she said the following about doing a detox cleansing called the Master Cleanse diet:

“This wasn’t about loss,” says Quivers, who traces her health problems to steroid-based medication that she took in 1989 to regulate her menstrual cycle, “I was really trying to regain my health, and that’s what it did.”

“She’s a whole different person, “says Howard Stern producer Gary Dell’Abate, “I’ve been with her 20 years, and I’ve never seen her this happy and confident.”

As a fitness and health blogger I get lots of people asking and commenting on how good cleanses are for them in general and the master cleanse diet it particular and I know that the medical community is split, but once you do a cleanse, a proper cleanse, you will see and feel the difference as your body becomes much more powerful and you have better concentration and clarity.

Many people will do some kind of fast or detox or cleanse or whatever you call it to lose and although you will lose some it is like starvation , it will come back over time. If however you do the master cleanse diet with the right idea, to make your body healthier and more efficient then you are going to jump start yourself to losing much more easily because you will be in fact making your body work better and you will not be fighting the toxins in your body at all.

What is the Master Cleanse Diet?

Out of all the cleanses out there I had heard that the Master Cleanse is the best one. The master cleanse is also known as the lemonade diet or the cayenne pepper and lemonade diet. The 10 day diet is the detox method that you hear about celebrities doing and having success with. I just also heard from my wife that the girls on The View were talking about the Master Cleanse last week and Beyonce used it in getting read for the movie Dreamgirls. The Master Cleanse diet is free and you can buy the stuff for it at the suppermarket but really it is very very tough to follow through on

Why is the Master Cleanse Diet Tough?

At the start of the Master Cleanse diet everyone is excited but after the first or second day a lot of people bail out. It is importnat ot go through the full 10 days of the Master Cleanse diet and after a lot of searching I have found a way that should help you.

I have found a great and cheap product that not only teaches you how to do the Master Cleanse but since it is so difficult for the 10 days it is also a guide on how to do the cleanse most successfully so that you do not quit half way through.

I have never recommended a fast or cleanse before because I never ran across one that had the support system for it. I could make up a cleanse right now that would probably be good but if I had no support system for anyone to go through is then what would be the point, by lunch the first day you would drop it for a hamburger.

    One more thing.. It doesn’t matter if your doing other -loss/diets, let’s team up anyways.. Better to LOSE Together than to GAIN Alone…I double dare you to take up my Challenge! Everyone is Welcome the more the merrier!     I like to cleanse about twice a year. The Master Cleanse is a little difficult to do but well worth it. I usually loose about 10 lbs and feel great afterwards.

    Definitely believe that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the net the easiest thing to
    be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people think about worries that they just

    This a great loss quick diet, but be careful about the timing. Stay hydrated and when you are back to eating, do your best not to overeat to make up for your cleanse. Weight loss doesn’t always come easy.

    Hello everyone is anyone on here still trying the MC? I was last here on Aug 5…and finally started but i messedup today but not giving up….im a bit dissapointed been doing so good…anyone else doing the MC andf want to join me on this joyride?!? Please do would be nice to have someone to do it with… so far this is what ive accomplished;

    Aug 31, 2012 – Fri Night (TEA)
    Sep 1, 2012 – Sat (SWF-Lemonade+water ONLY) – before bed (tea)
    Sep 2, 2012 – Sun (SWF-Lemonade+water ONLY) – before bed (tea)
    Sep 3, 2012 – Mon (SWF-Lemonade+water ONLY) – before bed (tea)
    Sep 4, 2012 – Tue (SWF-Lemonade+water ONLY) – before bed (tea)
    Sep 5, 2012 – Wed (SWF-Lemonade+water ONLY) – before bed (tea)

    I know i messed-up but hopefully that pizza will hold me and honestly it wasnt good at all…gonna stay strong as much as possible and busy …
    I am finishing up my tea and drinking water than willd rink my tea and start all over tomorrow and continue doing so..
    Im also doing wraps which help and some belly dancing, house chores and keeping busy and distracted as much so my mind isnt on food…
    I am using 8 TBSP of grade B instead of 12 it isnt so bad and I can honestly say that the SWF is vecome so so easy for me to do no more gagging or the need to puke it is so easy for me to drink which is a bonus…toung still sugar coated but even when it turns pink again I will still continue to do the MC..

    I suffer from migraines and sinuses and back pain and have to rely on pills which was a prob for me but ive manage to go around it.. a few tips;

    Use a headstick roll on for your forehead if you suffer from migraines or get headaches this way you dont have to take pills..
    use a back brace or hot water bottle, and nasal spray or bicks inhaler if you suffer from sinus like i do and this really works good…well good luck to everyone doing the MC ….oh almost forgot I have lost a total of 7lbs prob more tomorrow i hope so but not sure cause of pizza )-: i feel terrible but hanging in there im doing this more for a detox…I think the wraps help a great deal too.. which reminds me i have to do one tonight wish me luck guys ….if you wanna do this together my email is xxx

    Im starting in a weeks time more or less… Just mentally preparing myself for this challenge…I’ve tried it in the past and learned why i failed so many times…If anyone wants to do it together let me know…im doing it for 30 days but taking breaks in between weeks with small healthy meals in the evening still drinking the lemanade concoction during the day..once a week thats not too bad…but if i can go all the way through will try my hardest good luck to all..

    Hi all I been reading your post and love the posotibity that flows about. I tried the MC before and lasted 5 days the 1st time and i have to say my skin was radiant looking very clear and younger i was kind of shock a great feeling… and lost 11 lbs … and didnt really had any side effects maybe a headache the first night and that was it…Now the 2nd time I tried i keep having a prblem with my poor bum sorry to be so personal but i was wondering if anyone is having any problems with a sore butt%$^^&%!!! because on the same night or the 2nd night i use the potty I am sore from using the bathroom so much..and noticed bleeding before so had to stop the MC which was very upsetting cause I have all my products just sitting there and dying to do the MC but my only prob is that.. so wondering if anyone has the same prb or any advice would be great.. I try using caseline to soothen it up but sometimes it just doesnt help when i do use the bathroom.. Please any advice would be great nothing i experienced before and not sure why now i am?!?? is there a solution to this?? TYhx for any advice and good luck to everyone..

    I’m starting this weekend! Anyone want to buddy up on this w/me? I’ve been hesitant but my gain is not slowing down & is causing me problems. I’ve always been very athletic but w/this new gain, I get winded going up 2 flights of stairs. . I’m 5’4″ & 160# & counting. I’m looking to get to 130 or at least be able to fit back into my power suits (all size 4-6). Email me if you want to do the journey w/me.

    Giving my update on the Master Cleanse…I did not start off with the Ease-in process like I planned. I started the night of 4/28 by drinking my laxative and when I woke up the morning of 4/29 I jumped right into the cleansing process. The lemonade was nothing like i thought it would be. I was under the impression that it would be this nasty spicy tasking drink but, it was the total opposite. I actually LOVE how the drink tastes. I feel full after drinking it and I have not yet to have any problems so far. When I woke up this morning (which is my Day 2) I got right up without hitting the snooze button. I really think I will make it through my 10 or 14 day period. I haven’t decided how long I will do the Master Cleanse.

      Today is day 3 and so far I’ve lost 4lbs since Sunday. I feel as though I have enough strength and engery to do a little bit of exercise. I plan to do some walking, light s and maybe a few reps of squats and crunches. I really want to lose 20lbs, and hopefully I will be able to reach my goal. If anyone has any tips on what things I can do to help me reach my goal please let me know.

    I have read and found this information that Master Cleanse is a modified juice fast that permits no food, substituting tea and lemonade made with maple syrup and cayenne pepper. Proponents claim that the diet “detoxifies” the body and removes excess fat. There is no scientific evidence that the diet removes any toxins, or that it achieves anything beyond temporary loss. Though unlikely to be harmful over the short term it can be harmful over the long term. Short term side effects include fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and dehydration, while long term harm includes loss of muscle mass

    Good Morning… I read a lot of reviews before I started the cleanse. My experience is slightly different. I am on day 5 of the cleanse, I feel great I have not
    experience any side affects, no headache, dizziness, I don’t even feel hunger at all. I do think about food but the urges are not strong. I still workout, I continue
    my days normally with the exception of eating. I thought to myself the other day. Can it be this easy? I lost 12lbs so far. I do have to say the worst part of this cleanse will
    have to be the sea salt water flush. Eww absolutely disgusting, I have to close my eyes and focus each time I take a sip. I believe I don’t have any negative side affects because I have been eating extremely healthy a little over a year now. I lost over a 100 lbs during my lost journey on my own the traditional way, meaning I put out more than what I put in and I eat healthy and workout. I am doing this clense not to lose but to detox. I read that we have waste left in our body for years and that motivated me to detox. My body will be with me for the rest of my life, I intend to take good care of it.       Good Morning Starlana….I really enjoyed your post. It’s great that you’ve had no side effects. I can almost say the same except for a pounding headache the very first night. Nothing since. You are so right! This is easy. I mean, yes I crave food sometimes, but not because I’m hungry. In fact, I’m never hungry. So even when I’m craving something that smells delicious I imagine putting it in my mouth, even chewing, but the thought of swallowing kills the craving. The idea of having food enter my stomach kills the craving. My stomach just feels sooo full! Strange, I know.

      Congrats on losing 100 lbs earlier and for continuing on your healthy lifestyle. Women like you are an inspiration to me. Today is day six and I’m going strong. I plan to do a 30 day detox. But I will let my body decide.

    I am planning to begin the Ease In phase of the MC on 4/27, I wanted to know if I take the laxative tea at night, will I still have to do the salt water flushes in the morning? Normally when I drink laxative tea it doesn’t work me until the morning time anyway.

    Hi people, am on day 3 today….i plan to do this for 14 days( God help me) Well this is not my first time hv done it couple of times and it works fabolous. My mind is focused and i dont hv any headache neither am i hungry….as usual the cravings r there but my mind power overcomes it. People, pls work on yr mind power and u will realise its the easiet way to loss provided u dont go back into yr bad habit of eating. Truth is i dont like weighing during the program but does so after the enire duration i plan to stay on it. It keeps me in suspense…..

    This is my 5th day on the master cleanse. The first day was the hardest for me. I was so hungry and so used to eating when I was! After the first couple days it def gets easier. Its all about willpower and concentrating on your end goal. Youre just craving food cause you are so used to eating it. But the maple syrup is replacing the calories etc you would get from food. I am planning on doing the cleanse for 10 days. So far Ive already lost 9lbs!!! Ive weighed myself every morning. Day 1 I was 153, then 149, 147, 146, and today I was 144!!! I havent worked out yet but figured this coming week Ill do a little bit of easy cardio, nothing to over exert myself. I had a headache yesterday on day 4 but so far thats been it. I feel great overall! I find myself thinking about food from time to time but those are just old cravings. I dont need it. The hardest thing for me has been not drinking!! haha Not that I drink a ton but just going and being social with my friends. Its super important I read that after the cleanse you cannot start eating like normal right away. You have to ease back in. Juices, and “living” foods. Like veggies etc. And I think portion control will be HUGE since our stomachs will have shrank considerably. Good luck to you all!

    Ive been on the maple syrup diet/master cleanse/lemonade diet for 4 days now, its not as hard as you may think. However i attempted it on a day in which i was hungover and failed so prepare the night before, i.e. dont drink lol, in fact they say youre supposed to “ease in” for 3 days before the diet drinking natural
    soups and orange juice, however i didnt know about this at the time.
    Anyway, I have recently put on around 20 pounds and weigh around 136lbs (i am used to a small figure and am short) and on my 4th day i have a flat belly and a less-rounded face!
    They also say that day 4 is the “hump” day which is supposed to be the hardest and to be honest im not struggling really. Ive had mcdonalds around me today, have been in and out of ther fridge (to smell the food haha), been supermarket shopping AND I WORK IN A RESTAURANT, and if i can resist eating for 4 days so far, dont tell me you cant!!
    So, the lemonade drink is yummy, just make sure you experiment with the water added to the maple and lemonade (i found the more water the better).I also only used a small ammount of pepper as i ddnt like the taste but got there in the end.
    The salt water flush was HORRIBLE on the first day and i couldnt do it, however the next day i made it in concentrate (2 tsps and a small amount of water) and added a small amount of lemon juice and took a sip, and then a sip of water, and so on.
    The laxative tea im drinking is yummy, its by pukka and contains aniseed fennel and some other natural igredients.
    Ive only really been drinking 4 glasses a day and havve been fine, but its effective because as soon as you feel hungry/weak you can have a glass and feel fine, i actually like the feeling of emptiness i have in my belly its motivating.
    Furthermore the craving and want for food, i.e. cakes, cookies, burgers chips etc i have learnt is a mental habit rather than a need. When you start you think in your head ‘should i eat’ ‘arr i really fancy fried chicken’ simply dismiss this crazy idea and do something about it – take a nap or go on a walk or a drive, just anything to avoid that state of mind, THIS IS KEY TO THE DETOX, without this in mind you are likely to fail.
    I plan to do this until day 10, and think im going pretty strong, i feel strong and i feel motivated and better about myself and life in general – i guess this is the spiritual cleansing they speak about.
    I will reblog to tell people how much i have lost on day 10.

      I’m on day 3 of the master cleanse, ……….WHAT A STRUGGLE, the headaches, dizziness and general feeling faint and tired, all i can think of is food, the growling in my belly is insane, be prepared for this cleanse ITS HARDCORE, proper hardcore, I’m over drinking this juice, I’m over Feeling like death, BUT i think i am losing , so i am going to try the full 10 days, ……….God help me

    so april 20, 2012 will be my first day. I have done it before but now I will stick to it. I can’t wait to lose before my birthday.       I am starting tomorrow to. I tried to do the cleanse 3 days ago, but gave into my chip weakness (damnit)! I am fine in the day but at night my cravings are wild. Starting again tomorrow and I NEED to stick to it and concure my food addictions. I need to prove to myself I can do this. I think once I start to see the benefits I will be able to complete it. But only getting to day 2 really upsets me :( I love this website for motivation, lets do it !

    I started the MC on March 21, 2012 i weighed 313 pounds, A LOT I KNOW! Well, I did it for 15 days and I went down to 270 pounds. I stopped for 2 days and went back on MC on April 9, 2012 and i’m still on it till today, I haven’t weighed myself since my 15th day i want to be surprised 😀 , I am working out to get faster results but i honestly can say when i’m done after every work out i do feel weak so i might stop but other than that i feel pretty good. From my results i can say THIS DOES WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just have to be committed and just tell yourself your doing this for you, to be healthy and to look GREAT!       wow..very inspiring..thanks for that jessica. i just came across the MC and im scared to do it only because of me having diabetes & high blood pressure. question though..i have to stop taking my pills right???
