How to use visualization is a very powerful and somewhat popular thing to do these days. One of the big parts of visualization is seeing yourself as you will be in the future.
I think that your future self is something to look at very seriously and in looking at yourself and what you want to look like in the future here are some things that you can think of and visualize about yourself.
How Does Visualization Work?
The important thing to realize about when you decide to use visualization is that in fact it works. If you picture yourself playing soccer you will be creating the neural network, the confidence, and motor control to actually play better soccer.
Of course the important thing is to actually do the thing (in this case Soccer) so that you can complete that mental to physical feedback loop. If you were not actually kicking the ball your mind would not really know what that actually feel like.
I believe, as do many others, that focusing on seeing how you will be in the future will force you to make the decisions that are going to be important in getting you there.
How to use Visualization
- You need to sit down in a quiet place where you will not have to worry about any kind of interference.
- You need to see yourself as you are and then morph it to what you are 1 or 5 or 10 years in the future.
- You need to completely immerse yourself in this alternative you. You need to not only see yourself but be that person
- You need to use all of your senses. You have to experience in this visualization as you will see, smell things, taste things, hear thing and touch things.
If you do this every day for 5 or 10 minutes it will in fact change your life. You will begin to make decisions and study and carry yourself as you will need to to get to that future goal.
One other thing that you can do to help you along the way is write down how you want this future to look.
This is a lot different from goal setting and in fact you will write down what you want and how you want your future to be at that point in time. In goal setting you have a roadmap, in this exercise you just have an idea and let your goals flow out of that once you have the picture that you would like.
I know that years back I was interested in a lot of the processes that created achievement and although action is the biggest factor to success also how to use visualization is one of the most important as well.
