Michael Jordan, even many years after retirement from a great pro basketball career still inspires us with a few quotes. But realistically Michael Jordan made a lot of shots as well. He was in the NBA all star game 14 times, was on 6 championship teams, and was the league MVP 5 times coming in second another 3 times. But, and this is amazing to me, Micheal Jordan was number 1 for missed field goals 7 times in his career. That is an amazing stat. This many years removed we can really … [Read more...] about Michael Jordan on Making It Happen
I ran across this infographic that really shows the impact of obesity rates across the United States. Obesity is a real issue, not just for individuals and families, but also for the health care system as a whole We all know the fix for this and it is found in every corner of this blog. We must set an example for all those around us by eating more whole foods (fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, lean meats), and cut out as much sugar as possible. Also we need to get rid of those refined foods … [Read more...] about Fitness Obsessed Obesity Epidemic
We all see the magazine cover, the pictures on Facebook, the bodies at work or in the gym. It can all seem impossible to achieve There always seems to be too far to go, and to many weights to lift, and to many miles to run. But ALWAYS remember. We all want immediate results, instant satisfaction, but it does not always come to us the way we would like. Your mind has to be aligned with the goals that you want. Your eating has to align with the goals that you want. And finally your exercise and fitness has to align with the goals that you want. Don't give up today or tomorrow because success isn't here yet. Just persevere and do all the right things, treat your body well so that every day you feel better than the day before. … [Read more...] about Stop Looking for Immediate Results
Belief drives everything and has pushed the boundaries of all of us on earth to create what we see. Nothing can be done without belief that someone could do it. No lights, no internet, no cars, and not even any houses. And this belief is the only thing standing in your way between where you are today and the glimpse of a dre3am of what you could be tomorrow. I have had lots of adversity in my life. Many many people have had far more and still the belief gets us up in the morning to do … [Read more...] about Never Stop Believing
Everything that we mean to do and the dreams that we try to achieve can be tough. The real achievement of anything difficult tends not to happen day by day and inch by inch but instead we often do not see results quickly at first but later we see the results much quicker One great example is in endurance sports. Lets say running. The first day slow. The second day a bit faster, the third day you are sore and don't do as well as the second day. This can go on for a few weeks. But if you … [Read more...] about Never Give Up – Even When Things are Tough
Found this great infographic with idea of how you can stay productive all week long. The reason that this is great is that you can print it up or even just save it and then each day you really have a challenge to look at why something is working or why you are struggling. If you are anything like me then I can tell you that when my confidence lags, or I am tired, or I am distracted I start to feel really unmotivated and unproductive. This is great reminders for all of us … [Read more...] about 7 Day Plan to Stay Productive
Forgive and forget? I never used to understand this. If you have been slighted, if someone harms you, why would you ever want to just forgive? It was not until just a few short years ago that I realized that fogiveness is not just about the other person. Forgiveness is for you. When YOU choose to forgive you take the power away from the person that hurt you - and at the same time you are giving yourself permission to be empowered and choose your own feelings. … [Read more...] about Reminder about Forgiveness
I find that far to often I am nervous to just open up and let people help. I never know what I can offer them after and what they would expect in return. For that reason I just love this picture and what it represents. Find that strong person willing to help and just let them help you … [Read more...] about Strong People Lift Others Up

I was off sick a couple weeks ago. Sometimes there will be a bug in the office and everyone seems to eventually catch it over a couple of month span. Over the last few years I have been able to stay away from getting sick very often at all using a couple rules: Rule one is that I always try to exercise well. I have some really tough workouts and some not so tough workouts but I never try to push myself to hard over an extended period of days, the way that I look at it is that I can't heal … [Read more...] about Do I stay in better health with exercise?
We always have too many outside influences telling us how we are wrong or how we are not enough. Don't let TV, magazines, movies, friends or anything else tell you how to feel about yourself. Late on Friday and Saturday nights I will lie in bed and watch a movie on my iPad on Netflix. It is a nice quiet time for me and I tend to watch stuff that no one else in the house would care about. Last night I watched the documentary Ride the Divide. Ride the Divide is just about an hour and a half long and it follows closely three people out of 16 people in total that do a bicycle race from Banff Canada to the US-Mexico border. The ride is purely individual although everyone is tracking … [Read more...] about Ride the Divide Movie
One of the things that I have really learned with my daughter and her Kidney disease is that we have up times and down times and we need to really take advantage of both. Kidney Disease But Still Super Active Our daughter Taylor, when she is feeling good likes to go on long bike rides and hikes and has lots of energy for that but then she does need to have her downtime and will be quiet and read or watch TV for the next day or so. Taylor has a far more balanced life than most people and it is … [Read more...] about Measured and Sustained Action
