I finally got a chance last night to finish watching The Biggest Loser. I am going to try to devote a couple posts a week to the show as I believe that it is one of the most motivating fitness shows possible.
The premise behind the biggest loser is that you will get interesting TV if you get 16 grossly overweight people, two personal trainers and a kind of survivor like atmosphere that you will get great TV. Well not surprisingly when you watch it really does work. There are two teams, a women’s team and a means team and the motivation to lose week is that the team that loses the lowest percentage of bodyweight for the week gets a member of their team kicked out. There are two personal trainers one man, supporting the women’s team and one woman, supporting the means team.
These people on The Biggest Loser have a lot of weight to lose and there are several things that they did to get started:
1. The Biggest Losers have a really big reason to lose weight and improve fitness; one wanted to do it to get back his physique from when he was almost a state wrestling champion, one girl wanted to get married and thought that the weight loss to get into a nice wedding dress would be motivating, one guy and one girl that are cops thought it was unsafe out in the field to be as out of shape as they were.
2. The Biggest Losers have a special diet generated for them. The men are eating 1500-2000 calories a day and the women are at 1200-1500 calories a day.
3. The Biggest Loser diet does not have any refined foods in it so no white bread, white rice or other “processed” carbs.
4. There is an expectation that everyone on the Biggest Loser will exercise most of the day and rest a lot at night. The trainers push them hard for hours.
5. All contestants on the biggest loser are on a ranch isolated from real life so there are no distractions and they can compete with no pressures from the outside.
6. The most important part of the regimen on the Biggest Loser is the training of the peoples thinking. All contestants know exactly what they have to do for the rest of their lives as far as motivation, attitude, exercise and eating are concerned. Everyone on the show knows that they are going to be successful because of their actions and the trainers are only a tool for them to lose the weight and improve their fitness.
I will try not to be a spoiler but at this point you should have watched the show if your were going to. The average weight loss in the first 10 days was 6.5% so this means on a 300 pound man the average loss would have been about 20 pounds. This is truly amazing but if the show plays out like it did last season there are good and bad weeks and we all know how good the first week on a diet tends to go.

Hi, I would like to join into biggest loser tv show because I always watch that show and I am interesting to joining there and work out my weight and healthy. I am deaf mother of three kids and my kids are hearing thanks god LOL. My weight is close to 200 lbs. I am very tired of it and I don’t have any time to do excerise to lose weight. How can I join into Biggest Loser TV Show I want be in there. Also I can be first Deaf Biggest Loser person in TV Show. There no matter to me but I want to be healthy and sexy thin. I used be 115 lbs when I was 19 years old till I had three kids and eat alot junk food. Please help me and let me know where can I join to be in Biggest Loser TV Show.
