One question that I get emailed about more than almost anything else lately is “How can I get on the Biggest Loser?”

I know that many people are interested in the show, after 7 or 8 seasons now people have seen so many success stories on the Biggest Loser that they can’t help but think that there is no way that they can lose the they want to lose without getting on the biggest loser.

I for one don’t believe that at all, no matter if you want to lose 20 in one month or lose 100 pounds in a year there are always ways to lose the without going on a TV show. Really! Believe it.

How to get on the Biggest Loser

Ok, now after that if you really want to know how to get on the Biggest Loser I have a plan that won’t guarantee anything but I think will improve your chances to get on the Biggest Loser.

Just to let you know, you need to be a resident of the US to get in. no Canadians or others allowed

Before you get started go to the Biggest Loser Casting page.  Click here for entry rules and procedure.

First of all, you have to fill out an application form at the NBC site and send in a video. As you can imagine there are quite a few people trying to get on the Biggest Loser and the only way that the people in the casting department can narrow down this huge list is by kicking people off the list or finding exceptional people.

The only way that you can be chosen for the Biggest Loser is to have an impressive application and video, there is no other way to make an impression.

Biggest Loser Application Tips

The application is long, 9 pages in fact so print out a couple of copies. Make one rough copy with lots of notes and give yourself at least a couple of days to really lay out what is important and what will be qualities that set you apart from everyone else trying to get on the Biggest Loser.

After you have filled out all the notes then get another copy of the application and print all the answers very clearly in the space provided. Keep your answers very clear and direct, do not use any unnecessary words, this is one of only two ways to impress those judges.

Biggest Loser Video Tips

The video that you make is going to be the real way of setting yourself apart from all of the other people trying to get on the Biggest Loser TV Show. Try to have the best production quality that you can.

As far as the length of video make sure that it is not any longer than 10 minutes. As you can imagine there are a lot of videos to get through and the people casting the Biggest Loser are going to only want to spend a few minutes and if they have not been caught by you by then they will move on to the next tape.

Make sure that your video is fairly closeup, you do not want to be too far away from the camera and no one should have to strain to hear what you have to say.

Try to be very upbeat, not like you are crazy but on the other hand, remember that they casters for the Biggest Loser are going to be looking for people that are fun and interesting to watch. If you are just heavy but will not draw in viewers then people will not want to tune into the show, so you will not be chosen.

Make sure you do wardrobe changes. Show the casting people on the Biggest Loser what you look like in a bathing suit, workout clothes, regular clothes and this way that will also get a feeling for what you are like.

Finally, let the viewers of your video know what you are like and why you should be on the show. which helps you to be very clear as to why you need to be on the show, your past successes and failures, your weight loss history and how you want to make the change for you and the people around you.

Will you get on the Biggest Loser?

As you probably know that chances of getting on the Biggest Loser are slim but unlike a lottery they are going to pick 16 people every season so there is a chance if you present yourself well to actually get on the show.

Good Luck, if you do get on the Biggest Loser leave a comment and let us know.

  1. Just a quick shout out….and a question! Anyone have any tips for making the video required to apply?? I’ve never made one before. On a different note, I’ll definitely agree with most on the list of failures of losing front. There are many to choose from, not many hold truth. I’m only 22, short, and without a doubt am over. Day to day things in my life are affected by that one word. My one and only goal is to become healthier, and by doing so continuing healthier habits for the rest of my life. I need to start now. Any feedback on the video would be wonderful and greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  2. Hi everybody my name is Ada . I am a college student for cosmetology. I am 19 years old and I weigh 265 pounds. I am 6 out of seven kids in my family. I have always been knee and tired to get rid of it once, doing it the wrong way. I an engaged and I want to look amazing on my wedding day. Every girl deserves to look and feel like a princess not a fat cow. Please help me I need motivation and presser from someone that cares for me and others

  3. I was just looking at http://www.thebiggestlosercasting.com for info about the 12th season – they have the application there for download, info about upcoming casting calls, tips on how to make an effective video, etc. It seemed trustworthy since I found the link on NBC’s website…

It also sounds like you need to “have at least 100 pounds to lose” to make it on. I guess it makes for more impressive transformations at the finale, but I wish there were something similar out there for people who are still over but have a bit less to lose =/

  4. Hi, I remember when I was young being called peewee. Cause I was so skinny, but when I hit women hood I had alot of problems and gained alot of . I blew up in the summer and when I went to high school people couldn’t believe that it was me. I seen alot of Specialist and unfortunately, I was forced thru early menopause at 19. So with this came the gain and I gain it all in my stomach.
My heaviest was 300 and it took me 3 years to loose 100 pounds. But I have gain 25 of that back. It is heard work but so worth it. I am up and down on the diet train. I had a personal trainer and we all know it’s not cheap. So I couldn’t keep that up. I would like to fine a group of people that are interested in working out together to push each other and get motivated to exercise. We all know it didn’t come on over night even though it feels like it. I wish everyone out there best of luck and just know you all can lose the .. Yes, we all would love to get on the Biggest Loser, but that’s like finding a needle in a hay stack… Again..Good Luck and don’t give up.. God Bless.

  5. Hello forum, you people that are around 250-260lbs imagine weighing over 400lbs. I topped the scales about a month ago at over 400lbs. I want to lose so I don’t pass away before my time. If your feeling low, just remember some of us have it worse and there is always bright days ahead. I wish you all the best of luck on your loss.

  6. hi my name is amanda i am 20 years old and weighing at about 270 right now i am in despirate need of losing and i dont have a car to go to a gym and i live way out in the country so there is nothing near me i pray and wish i could get on the show before i die of obese someone please help me

  7. For everyone posting, I just want to share that the most important thing; self motivation! A lot of you even say that there is a friend, lover, or family member that is over as well. Work out together! It is extremely hard to be self motivated, but that is the key! Eat healthy- it is obvious, portion control and no pigging out on junk. And you must also be active. Wether you are busy working or too sore for it, you can find the time. By the way, exercise no matter how small gets your blood flowing to those sore spots and also revives those tired muscles. I am 22, married and have an 8mo old son. I want to do a few different professions, yet feel my holds me back. I’ve even received a career diploma for a nutrition specialist, yet I am 5’0 and over 210lbs. After my sons birth I kept on the and I’ve never been as big. I am so embarrassed and always feel like I need to explain myself. I know what will help me lose the , but the depression that comes with it overrides the motivation. But please, I know we all want to be healthy, so go out there already! Walk until it hurts, make better choices at the grocery store. And yes there are rediculous gourmet recipies in the fitness books, but there are simpler ways, and you know it! Good luck with everything! Monique…MMiller2011@yahoo.com

  8. I sure do wish TBL would allow others to make an application for those such as a friend of mine. She’s a HS friend, known one another since 2nd/3rd grade, were babysat together, etc. While we never did hang out a great deal in our school years, she still a significant person in my life, because she is unique and caring. I cannot begin to guess her , though, if I had to throw out a number, I wouldn’t be entirely shocked if her 5’7 ish frame was now carrying around close to 400lb, if not.

She “enjoys food”, constantly making comments of just how much she likes food, almost as though it might be an addiction… or, simply concealing the fact that she is obese and this is her way of saying to the world, “It’s ok that I’m large, I don’t mind it at all, in fact, I love it and the food that I eat to get me this way..”, in an effort to thwart being picked on or mad fun of perhaps?

Or I may just be ignorant, plain and simple, and not understand at all what it’s like for someone to be addicted to food, to the point of not caring of the consequences. She has a 10 year old daughter, she’s only 34-35 herself… I’m seriously doubting that if she keeps on the road in which she is traveling now, that she’ll live to see her daughter graduate, from High School much less college.

It’s sad, as I’m sure she has no inclination to apply to TBL, for all I know she likely doesn’t watch it. I think this is tragic, because, if she knows it or not, or even wants to admit it, she is on a patch of destruction.

I’m not attempting to be hypocritical, so I’ll toss in the fact that I’m 220lb at 5’9″ and like an idiot, I smoke. I’m trying to make changes to this, albeit, it’s tough when healthy foods are more expensive than junk/fast foods. Not an excuse, simply a reason… for those nay sayers reading believe it may be an excuse, I welcome your cash donations so that I may afford MORE of the healthy foods. 🙂

But… I am NOT in the boat that my friend is in, she is morbidly obese and comparing from last years pictures to how she looks this year, I’m afraid there is no end to her gain in sight.. the only thing clearly seen is her demise… and she’s just too damn good a person for that.

  9. Hello everyone,

I am grateful and happy to have found this website. I dont feel so alone anymore about being so over and the depression I suffer because of it. Its very helpful to read everyones stories. I am 121 kgs and my height is 5 ft 3 in so you can imagine how obese I feel.and look.

I pray for you all and myself that we won’t be imprisoned by the fat we have to carry around everyday for too much longer. I want it to fall of and set me free

  10. Here’s a tip. First, quit hoping ot get on this show, millions and millions of people need help and only a few make it onto the show, chances are that it’s not going to be you. Do some research on healthy food and meal sizes. Eat small meals every 2-3 hours. No soda, water only. You gotta remember that you are only hurting yourself. If you want to change your life, you need to make the change.

  11. Hello, My name is Joshua S. Gleason, i am 18 years old and over 350Lbs. i have always been over , people make fun of me all the time. i have no friends. i cant ever goto the lake or beach and take off my shirt to go swimming. i have never had a girlfriend who has loved me. i hate myself for being so big… it ruines my life, and yes, i have tried to lose , it really hurts when people drive by and throw a drink at you calling you fat, fat-ass, etc. it trully hurts soo bad. i am tired of it and i am in need of help. please any one… i do not want to be fat anymore. its gotten to the point were i get made fun of sooo much that i have thought of suicide. please. i need help.

    1. Hey Josh~
Hang in there. Believe it or not, the people who give you such a hard time will matter less and less to you. Yes, you want to do good things for yourself, for your body and for your life. But I hope that this journey is initiated with self love rather than self hate. I was terribly over through my youth and completely relate to being targeted by others because of my . And I’m from a town of 750, so my label was undeniably “the fat girl”. And I’ve hated myself in the past because of my . Self-love is not a luxury though. It is not something to withhold until you’ve “earned” it, whatever that means. Learn to love yourself, your heart, your gifts… Those gifts will help you realize how others lose out by not getting to know you.

Hang in there… and keep looking for your answers. I’ll be hoping for just that.
      Peace~
      B

  13. Hi everyone, I am a mother of 3 and weigh 220lbs, at my own fault. After my second child i was 200 lbs and decided that enough was enough. I went out and got myself some billy blanks dvd’s and found I actually enjoyed the work out he used and the music. You can really get into it. I had taken myself down from 200 to 150 within a few months time. However, I had my 3rd child and gained all the back. But mostly because i stopped using the disks, but continued to eat and get more and more lazy. But i am setting myself a goal. I am not worried about the amount of time it takes to reach my goal just as long as i can get myself their.
To those of you who can make it on Biggest Loser, good luck and have fun. However to those of us who don’t, good luck to all of you. Find a program that you can enjoy, and something you will use at least 2 times a day. I did, without worrying about any eating plan and i managed to lose 50lbs. If I can do it so can you. Just find the workout plan you enjoy enough that you can do it at least once every day to twice every day.

  17. I am a disabled veteran with type II diabetes, high blood pressure, stints in my heart and PAD. I am 62 years old and would like to live to see my grandchildren grow up. I am around 273 lbs and would like to at least 100 pounds. I need your help

  18. I know that everyone writing who wants to be on The Biggest Loser feels that they can’t lose unless they are on the show. I feel that we all have it within ourselves to achieve whatever goal we set out for ourselves whatever that may be. It just takes time and effort and eventually you will see a change. I hope that you may see your incredible worth in life and know that you can do whatever it is you set out to do. Change doesn’t come overnight but one day at a time. Good luck to you all.
